Africa Food Systems Forum Summit 2024 The Africa Food Systems Forum (AFS Forum) Summit 2024 was officially launched yesterday 26,march, at the Kigali Convention Center, marking a significant step towards transforming food systems across the continent. The summit, which has attracted over 1000 participants, including myself as a virtual attendee from Nigeria, the aims is to drive progress in food systems transformation through the harnessing of the latest innovations in technology, policy, and financing. H.E Hailemariam Desalegn, Chair of the AFS Forum Partners Group, delivered the welcome address,he highlighted the need for multi track efforts from all stakeholders to address the challenges facing Africa's food systems, including climate change, food insecurity, and unsustainable practices.The presence of the Rwandan Prime Minister at the summit underscores the importance of the event in shaping the future of agriculture in Africa. I feel excited about the opportunities it presents to explore innovative solutions that can help drive positive change in Africa's food systems. looking forward to engaging in meaningful discussions and contributing to the collective effort to transform food systems for a sustainable future.

The Africa Food Systems Forum 2023 Summit explored the pathways and actions needed to accelerate and steer the continent towards food systems transformation under the theme "Recover, Regenerate, Act: Africa's Solutions to Food Systems Transformation."

The world's premier forum for African agriculture,AGRF,was held in Tanzania from 5-8 September with over 4000 delegates attending the summit. Three resolutions were adopted under the theme:Recover, Regenerate and Act. Leaders also committed to a more inclusive and resilient food systems for Africa and the world to help transform food systems. https://t.ly/DT3q1

I am a bit excited (and perhaps nervous?) Why? 🤔 Because I have been invited by Consejo Nacional Agropecuario to moderate a panel discussion on “Building tomorrow’s food systems today” at CNA’s Foro Global Agroalimentario at its 20th anniversary on 31 October with the participation of some very experienced and capable panelists: 🐓 Gonzalo Moreno Gómez, Executive President, National Federation of Poultry Producers of Colombia (Fenavi) 🌾 Agustín Tejeda Rodriguez, Director of Content and Communication, Grupo de Países Productores del Sur 👩🌾 Mary Robinson, Vice President for North America, World Farmers' Organisation. Although the panelists will (and should!) do most of the talking, I will take the opportunity to introduce some of the things where #Denmark can contribute positively on this topic. For instance: 💡 The use of innovative #Biosolutions to make the most of the resources and raw materials 💡 A #collaborative approach uniting forces from all food industry stakeholders: public and private sector, universities and research institutions 💡 Vast experience in producing high-#quality and #safe #food with full traceability and transparency. It was indeed a wonderful experience participating in the #BMGF LSFF 2024 Partner Convening in Cape Town, sharing experiences and insights on #LSFF with colleagues from around the globe. One of the highlights for me was serving as a resource person during the session on 'Reinforcing National Fortification Alliances (NFAs)', sharing experiences from Nigeria's 20-year old NFA and learning from other countries' experiences. Another highlight was providing framing for the session on 'Evidence-based regulation and implementation of LSFF: Better generation and usage of data for policy making' and sharing insights, from the perspective of a regulator engaged in implementation of the food fortification program in Nigeria, on our experiences so far and what the future likely holds for our fortification journey. How have we used data and evidence for policy making or for refining implementation of the fortification program in line with the evidence? Participating as a panel discussant in the session on 'LSFF Regulatory Best Practices (Part 2): South-South Learnings, Capacity Building, and Collaboration' was yet another highlight with cross-country exchanges. In all, the LSFF Partner Convening was 3 days very well spent in the interest of advancing efforts and global collaboration towards overcoming micronutrient deficiencies through #foodfortification.

When I read the story of Highlands drinks and Bio Foods,it's a story I resonate with.Its a story about evolving as a business,getting into strategic partnership,innovation,minding your environment and community as you carry on business and connecting with your consumers to know what they need. It's also very personal to me as it gives me hope that dreams are valid and I need to keep on doing the little things,continously unlearning and learning and to always keep my eyes on the goals. And comparing this two feature magazines reminds me to count my blessings and continue telling my story.
