"Put yourself out there!" In the summer of 2022, my partner was suddenly faced with her company ceasing to exist. She had poured her heart into the organization for five years, with all signs pointing towards continued success. So, when the news hit, it felt like a ton of bricks. After taking some well-deserved 'me time,' she made her characteristic move: turning a problem into an opportunity. She assessed her skills, surveyed her network, researched upskilling, and did all the things one typically does during a career search. It all helped, but she credits one thing above all: "I put myself out there." With no previous experience in tech, she took a leap and applied for a job that appealed to her. She believed that if she could land the interview, she could showcase the value of her transferable skills and secure a position where she could leverage her ability to learn quickly in new environments. Fast forward a year and a half, and she's thriving (WOO-HOO!) in her fully remote role, relishing the challenge, and enjoying her fantastic new colleagues and managers.
