Connecting diverse talent with inclusive employers at scale using proven digital strategies 📲 | Helped employers save £59,750+ on recruitment agency spend💰 | 2024 UnderOne Festival DEI Awards Judge | Founder & CEO
Employers: Your job descriptions are boring. This is (one) of the reasons you struggle to attract candidates. We fielded 468 applications in 19 days for one of our employer partners. How? We switched up the job titles: ‣ Sales Intern → Commercial Sales Intern ‣ Compliance Intern → Investment Compliance Intern ‣ Legal Intern → Legal Counsel Intern ‣ Business Analyst Intern → Investor Solutions Intern As much as titles don’t matter, candidates still care about them. We provided context on these titles within the body of the job description. And highlighted a brief summary of the firm + their values. Stripped out unfamiliar acronyms and corporate jargon. Simplicity is key. Lastly, we included the salary (controversial I know). Optimised job description + solid marketing strategy… We had to close applications early! Ps: my genuine reaction when applications were flooding in! Additional tips in the comment section ↓

🔥Hot take🔥 If an employer posts an open job description with a bachelor's degree (or higher) as a minimum requirement, they should have to explain *exactly* why it's necessary to the fuctuntion of the role. Quit acting like the reason is obvious because, let me tell you, for a lot of these job descriptions, it ain't. I'm not anti-intellectual. I do think college degrees are important - for individuals and society. I do understand why an engineering degree is important for engineering work, why a doctor needs to go to medical school, and so on and so forth. And I do think it's perfectly fine to hire based on the value of an educational background, but y'all really need to explain yourselves and stop hiding behind "company policy" or whatever. Why does your "DooDads Admin Coordinator II-IV" need to hold a bachelor's, ma'am? 👀 How will a bachelor's of "good subject" factor into the critical functions of your "Account Mid Explainer, Learn Some More Team Specialist," sir? 👀 And if you can't explain why it's required for the job them maybe don't require it to get hired.

This article is about the occupation of an assistant. For the position of leadership, see Secretary (title). For the position known as secretary that operates within the cabinet of a government's executive branch, see Cabinet member. Katie Johnson, left, personal secretary to the president of the United States, with Barack Obama at the White House in 2009 A secretary, administrative assistant, executive assistant, personal secretary, or other similar titles is an individual whose work consists of supporting management, including executives, using a variety of project management, program evaluation, communication, and/or organizational skills within the area of administration. There is a diverse array of work experiences attainable within the administrative support field, ranging between internship, entry-level, associate, junior, mid-senior, and senior level pay bands with positions in nearly every industry, especially among white-collar careers. The functions of a personal assistant may be entirely carried out to assist one other employee or may be for the benefit of more than one. In other situations, a secretary is an officer of a society or organization who deals with correspondence, admits new members, and organizes official meetings and events. But this role should not be confused with the role of an executive secretary, cabinet secretary such as cabinet members who hold the title of "secretary", or company secretary, all which differ from an administrative assistant.

Former Accountant, Now Recruiter, With Access to Inside Industry Knowledge. Focusing on Helping Accounting & Finance Professionals Reach Their Career Goals in The Greater Houston Area.
@ Houston Accounting & Finance managers, are you looking for new talent? Get ready to play the waiting game. ☟☟ Wall Street Journal says, “Fewer people are pursuing degrees in accounting and starting new jobs in this area, resulting in more open positions for related roles and searches that take longer to complete.” If you are a hiring manager, you can expect to wait on average 56 days to fill an open accounting or audit position. According to Indeed, business degrees- Accounting & Finance, ranks 3/10 for most popular majors. Top 10 Popular Majors for Undergraduates #1. Mathematics #2. Computer Science #3. Business #4. Biology and biomedical sciences #5. Education #6. Psychology #7. Political science #8. Environmental science #9. Engineering #10. Social sciences and humanities Take away for hiring managers- if you interview a qualified candidate that you really like, and they check all or most of your boxes (even if it’s the first candidate that you've had interview), make them an offer! Chances are they have a ton of other opportunities in front of them and will be off the market by the time you bring another candidate in to interview. There are still far more open roles than qualified candidates in this market. If a candidate is a little out of your salary range, STRETCH. You might be facing two more months of searching for the right fit, and ultimately end up stretching on salary in the end. (We have witnessed this on multiple occasions) See link below in comments for full Indeed and WSJ articles. #accountingcareers #financecareers #jobopenings

Good morning everyone, I am currently searching for entry level positions in the finance/accounting area. I have graduated and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Personal Finance at Winston Salem State University in 2022. I am having trouble finding an entry level position to gain experience in this area due to jobs pursuing other candidates with more experience than me, but I am unsure how to gain experience if companies that are hiring for entry level positions, never hire me. Can someone please provide insight, advice, or suggestions on how to obtain positions in these area? I have the basic knowledge of finance and accounting principles and regulations, but never get the chance to show my knowledge and/or skills. #lookingforopportunities #entrylevelopportunities #recentgraduate #remote
