📣 NEW BLOG >> For those who don’t know me well yet in this LinkedIn space, I love to SHARE - stories, blogs, meals, joints, truth. Too often communities of color, especially me as an #AsianAmerican, grow up feeling like we have to hold our tongue and feel a lot of shame, especially in our imperfection. But life has shown me that there’s no time for that. It is short, and we need to share our stories. Did you know that 📣 BIPOC winemakers make up less than 1% of the wine market 🤯 Once I learned that I knew that there was an opportunity to help increase visibility not just for BIPOC winemakers, but also Chefs, Caterers, Spirits, and Beverage brands that didn’t typically get access to or invited to prestigious food and wine festivals. Enter our new festival concept – POC Food & Wine Festival – a celebration of the global majority in food, wine, music, and culture. It’s been almost a year now that I’ve been working on this festival concept. ✨️Read my newest BLOG✨️ below to hear my newest reflections on what it’s like producing our first Food & Wine Festival focused on diversity and equity. Short answer - it’s HARD, but we’re doing it anyway :) Vendor Applications are still open until February 9th, and we're still looking to fill a few spots for Winemakers, Wineries, Beverage brands, and Caterers. JOIN ME! Tag a friend, and let's BUILD 🫶🏽💜 #festivals #wine #winelover #womeninwine #eventprofs #diversityequityinclusion #diversity #wineindustry #eventindustry https://lnkd.in/gBQsPDah

In France, sake is gaining popularity, with the Salon du Sake leading the way. This event, attended by over 5,000 sake producers, culinary experts, and newcomers, is putting sake on the map. It's a crucial step in introducing this Japanese drink to the French market and beyond. Despite challenges like misconceptions and higher prices compared to wine, education and pairing with French cuisine are helping sake find its place in France. With efforts to improve awareness and quality, the Salon du Sake is playing a vital role in promoting sake in Europe. We are not just optimistic about the French market but the European market as a whole. The growing enthusiasm for sake and the success of events like the Salon du Sake indicate a promising future for this traditional Japanese beverage in Europe. 🍶🇫🇷🇪🇺 #SakeInEurope #JapaneseSake #Sake

Please read and share your feedback on the attached paper “Decolonizing Indigenous Gastronomies and Folklore-based Food Practices in Easterine Kire’s Spirit Nights” published in Drishti:The Sight, a UGC CARE journal in their Nov 2023-April 2024 issue focused on ‘Folklore, Literature and Society: Reading Culture-Signifying Practices from Northeast’. Since only the contents page (my paper is in page 69) has been uploaded in the journal website as of now, sharing the paper here. A very well-researched and interesting paper on colonial gastronomy with reference to stories from West Bengal provided useful insights for my work and has been cited. Thanks! Sayan Dey, Ph.D.

Your adapted holiday of a lifetime in Lanzarote 🏝 | Scottish holiday provider catering for people with disabilities ♿️ | Running LanzAbility and Adventure Holidays Lanzarote | Book a free holiday discovery call!
Ever been to a wine tasting? I personally don’t drink alcohol, but I do recognise the appeal of sitting together with great company in a pleasant setting and enjoying a glass of wine. Especially if it’s local Lanzarote wine. That’s why we offer private, fully accessible wine tastings for our holiday guests. A wine tasting day with LanzAbility begins with my team and I picking you up in one of our adapted vehicles. Since drinking alone is usually somewhat frowned upon, we offer private wine tastings for a minimum of two people—the more, the merrier. Our first stop: the vineyards, where the local farmers still grow grapes the traditional Lanzarote way. Next: we’ll visit two or three wheelchair-accessible local bodegas that are not typical tourist hotspots. While enjoying the traditional Canarian atmosphere and stunning views, you’ll get to sample up to ten different local Lanzarote wines. Let’s not forget about the food: typically, our local bodegas also offer various delicious tapas to accompany your glass of wine. Often, people come as strangers and end the day with great conversations, lots of laughter, and even new friendships. That’s what this experience is truly about. 🍇🍷🧑🏻🦽 #winetasting #localLanzarotewine #disability #adaptedactivities #LanzAbility

The origins of Zinfandel trace back to Croatia where it’s known as Tribidrag or Crljenak Kaštelanski. In the US, the variety is known as Zinfandel, playing a key role in the establishment of California’s wine industry, and in Italy it’s recognised as Primitivo where the region of Puglia is home. At Decanter World Wine Awards, wines of each rendition were awarded by the experts, and today being National Zinfandel Day, we take a look at the top-scoring... https://ow.ly/ucO050Q7rC6

Wine is the most important food product in the history of the Western World. It has cultural and spiritual value for the communities that produce it, creating economic stability through its identifiable attributes. 🍷✨ Typicity in wine is the expression of a collaboration between people and nature over time, linking wine’s identity to the people and place from which it comes. The stronger and more easily communicated the identity of an appellation, the more prosperous the economic reward is for the entire community within that appellation. The identity of an appellation is constantly evolving, shaped by nature, culture, and market needs. From Gevery-Chambertin to Champagne, Chianti to Franciacorta, defining and protecting a wine’s identity is essential to its success in the marketplace. Effective communication about a wine’s identity is what sets successful wines apart, ensuring they resonate with the target market. Italian wine, with its breadth and diversity, has the potential to fit every market category at the highest level. Top-down messaging and a focus on education are key to achieving long-term market stability and success. Cheers to the rich heritage and promising future of Italian wine! 🍇🇮🇹 #wineeducation #winehistory #italianwine #wineculture #cellarmuse #winecommunity #winelovers #typicityinwine #wineidentity #globalwinemarket #economicstability #culturalvalue #natureandwine
