Marketing Manager | Digital Marketing | Strategic Marketing | Business Development | Budget Management | Events | PR | Communications | Thought Leadership
Really insightful and thought-provoking article by Matthew Rowe (MCIPR) on the fundamental importance that marketers start to grasp the numbers, better understand the finances in the business and show how marketing activities directly impact the bottom line. It's also about asking the right questions. PM Forum #ProfessionalServices #Marketing #FinancialLiteracy
I’ve just received the latest issue of PM Magazine and as ever it’s a terrific read. Many thanks to Matt Baldwin and the team at PM Forum. Among a number of thought-provoking articles that cover a broad range of topics, you’ll find my musings on why it’s essential for marketers to really get to grips with the numbers. Have a read and let me know what you think. In other PM Forum news… if you’re based in the East of England, we’ve just set up a regional committee. We’ll be holding our first in-person event in Cambridge in early 2024 and would love to see you there. If you’d like to find out more about the EoE regional plans please drop me a line or get in touch with Shaun Nichols CMktr, Christopher Broom or Daniel Kondras. #ProfessionalServices #Marketing #Finance #BusinessDevelopment

We find technical people who solve business problems ◆ Transparent Search ◆ Transparent Teams ◆ We are Vocative
Apparently Broxbourne in Hertfordshire is one of the best places in the UK to retire. I grew up round there. It's a nice place but "the best place to retire in the UK"? It tops a truly bizarre list which includes Wimbledon, Stockport and Wrexham in what appears to be just a randomly generated list of place names. Reading on it would appear that someone (actually, Which?) has randomly crunched some data about green space and access to pharmacies and come up with some conclusions that don't survive contact with reality. Funnily enough I was on a briefing call yesterday about a senior Data role. We spent most of the time talking about communication - just having data with no sense of what story it might tell or whether that story is useful (or even makes any sense at all) is worse than useless. The key to driving value out of data is being about to understand the commercial imperatives and opportunities within the business. As always, we work with companies to help them find the people who solve business problems with technology solutions. Dipping into randomly selected data and drawing unsupportable conclusions is no use to a business. Apparently it works fine in journalism though. Vocative #data #value #business

⛪ Eternal Life is 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 - CEO/Entrepreneur #Amazon Expert - Podcast Host - Helping Big Brands Crush Ecommerce For FREE! (We buy inventory and do everything else)
We just passed 40 employees that all live here in southern Indiana. Here is what I learned from hiring over 50 employees in the last 5 Years: 1. Encourage conflict! Yes, this is surprisingly my number one tip. After reading five dysfunctions it helped me realize the importance of constructive conflict! A healthy organization cannot live without it 2. Have some sort of operating system like EOS. This has been a game changer 3. Spend the time to actively listen. Nothing worse than an employee that doesn't feel heard. 4. Make sure you communicate your vision, and you hire off of values. 5. Higher slow, fire fast. If somebody is not happy, it will spread like a cancer. most of the time it's because they're just not the right person for that role. 6. Positive people and negative people are both infectious. Try to pull in positive attitudes as much as possible. 7. Watch your overhead. People are your biggest assets and biggest expense. It is too easy to over hire. Make sure you have a healthy ratio of gross profit to overhead. Would love to know what ratio you consider healthy. I think anything better than one to three is good.

All of this cold weather makes us wish we were back at Josh's Frogs like we were back in July because it is so toasty in there! Josh's Frogs was the July Employer for our Employer Showcase! They respect and protect their people and animals, value integrity, and commit to constant improvement. They promote from within and offer ample opportunities for growth and advancement.
