🎉 One month check-in! 🎉 I can’t believe I’ve already spent one month with the incredible Octopus Electroverse team! 🐙 ⚡️This welcoming community has made the transition from a long-standing role surprisingly smooth. 🌟 The work is fascinating, and the abundance of opportunities ahead is truly incredible. Shifting from the safety of a familiar company to a new environment felt daunting, but the incredible support around encouragement from so many of you has given me a newfound confidence which has made all the difference. Here are a few lessons I've learned in this journey: 1️⃣ Embrace the joy of learning weekly—thanks to Sarah Brown for this gem. Reflecting on the week's lessons reveals the tremendous growth in such a short time. 2️⃣ No question is too basic when you're the new face. Seize the freedom of zero expectations and ask away! 3️⃣ Observe team dynamics in meetings; it unveils the true essence of the culture. My experience aligns with Octopus's touted culture, a major draw for me. 4️⃣ Be your authentic self from day 1: I explicitly shared my other full time job as a mum of two in my CV and interviews. I did feel nervous about it, but transparency about the need to leave a bit early for pickups and having work-from-home days was key and everyone here has been so flexible and accommodating. 📢New student accommodation report: Closing the Gap📢 CUBO and Global Student Living have partnered on a new insight report exploring student accommodation experiences in the UK and Ireland 🔎 The research dives deep into the experiences of vulnerable student groups, shedding light on critical issues and areas for improvement. The report was launched at the CUBO summer conference in June, and highlights issues affecting vulnerable students including those from an ethnic minority, students with a disability, neurodivergent students, and those identifying as LGBTQIA+.
