𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗔 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆: Because you cannot imagine doing anything else. One day I spoke to a would-be founder. "I have three options," he said: 1. Find a company, start hiring and scale it 2. Take a lone ranger sales role with a large corporate 3. Consult on my own for a while" I responded: "In my experience, very few successful companies have been part of a three-way 'tie'. You should start a company because you cannot imagine doing anything else." Not sure if I stoked or killed the fire right there...

31… the number of BDRs promoted internally in my time here at FloQast. As I’ve reminisced on the past 2 years here at FloQast, I thought back to the main reason why I joined here two years ago. I wanted to work for a company that poured resources into the BDR organization not so that they become great BDRs, but great in their next role internally. Because that’s what it’s really all about in my opinion in the world of BDRs… not only generating qualified pipeline, but a pipeline of talented individuals for a company. It’s something that I’ve stayed unwavered in since jumping into management. With 31 promotions in 2 years it has far met my expectations. And with that comes a need to continue to hire more future AEs, AMs, CSMs, & BDR Managers. If you are interested - click link below to apply. https://lnkd.in/gcpNM-gP

Brand partnership • VP Global Growth Sales at LaunchDarkly | SalesIntroverts.com | Sellers promote faster with my frameworks
“When you get offered a seat on the rocketship, you take it - it doesn’t matter which seat” is usually garbage advice for a sales rep. Some seats get bad territory. Some seats have terrible managers. Some seats are asked to sell new (and bad) products. Some seats get pennies on the dollar for equity preferences. And some seats get thrown off the rocketship as soon as it gets close to the moon. So next time a hiring manager is pressing you to accept a role and says, “It doesn’t matter what seat - you just gotta get on,” ask yourself: “If the seat doesn’t matter, would they let me have theirs?” And the answer proves that the seat absolutely matters. If you want help evaluating if an opportunity really is a "rocketship" you can check company details here: https://lnkd.in/gA72yEX9

Auvik hired five new BDRs last week, and I couldn't be more excited to see what this new crop of talent can accomplish. I love hiring for sales AND especially for BDRs - after all, it's great being there and supporting them at the start of their journey. Fun story: One of our new five I met last fall. He prospected me while selling door-to-door. I know first hand how hard the direct sales model is to excel and do well at. I spent summers alongside Carlos Naranjo and Joe McCulla selling lawn aeration and driving sealing. The days were long, and the commission and bonuses made it fun and exciting... that hard, grinding work and constant effort, it stays with you. So when I say this guy blew me away, it is not an exaggeration. I was blown by his approach, communication style and calm demeanour. I gave him all the time I had - after all he was good, and was doing this while it was pouring rain. Instant respect earned. In the end, I told Tristan I wasn't buying from him, but when the time came to leave door-to-door behind, to reach out. I know talent when I see it, and I've witnessed the built-in pedigree that comes with getting doors slammed in your face. Sure enough, ten months later and a message arrives in my inbox. Two days after that - he has an offer. To every sales manager still here reading this - if you're hiring BDRs - go get yourself someone who cut their teeth selling door-to-door. Chasing commission cheques and putting in those hard days outside - you'll never get someone who works harder, earns their money, and loves winning. To job seekers - if you're looking to start a career in tech sales and are finding it hard to get in somewhere, don't sleep on door-to-door as a good option to set you on the path. Having a story of perseverance to tell, of eating dirt in order to get somewhere, all while proving to yourself you can do anything - that is incredibly moving in a BDR interview. We love that. It sets you apart. To those that grind, cheers to you. AND congrats to you, Tristan Jagarnauth. You earned it. #saleshiring #careeradvice

New to sales? Here’s the advice I got when I first started. It was SO helpful. 👉 For starters, get out of email. Pick up the phone. 👉 Sell to power! You can’t get far without a decision-maker. 👉 And get the “no” as quickly as possible. As we scale our sales team at W3LL, keep an eye out for opening sales positions!

I had the privilege of briefly working on Cathy Minter's team while I interned at R3. She's one of the most impressive sales leaders I've met, and her answer to what makes a great day in sales is likely the reason why. A great day in sales to her is meeting with current and prospective customers all day. WHY? Because they tell you why they are using your or a competitor's product, and that information is invaluable. The success of many companies is largely driven by the relationship between the sales and product teams. Sales know why customers are or aren't buying and then it's the prod/dev team's responsibility to act on that information. Thanks for coming on, Cathy! #sales #product
