LGMA adopts Western Growers’ food safety data sharing initiative Members of the California Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement (LGMA) plan to adopt Western Growers’ proprietary GreenLink data sharing platform to collect and analyze food safety data. The landmark movement towards industry cohesion means the leafy greens industry will advance collective learning by utilizing a standardized data collection approach, according to a news release. Developed by the Western Growers Science staff in collaboration with Western Growers member companies, the copyrighted GreenLink program provides a digital, secure and confidential online platform that enables users to share food safety data. “The use of GreenLink by the California LGMA is a huge step forward as our industry continues to make sure we advance the best food safety practices, which are essential to providing consumers the safest produce possible,” De Ann Davis, Western Growers’ senior vice president of science, said in the release. “The power of data is irrefutable, and we believe that food safety strategies dictated by science and prevention are the best way to maintain a secure food supply.” https://ow.ly/2a3k50PWjTQ #LGMA #CaliforniaAg #Farmers

🌶 Food safety: FAO raises awareness and understanding of early warning tools and systems 🥝 Food safety is a crucial part of ensuring there's enough safe food for everyone. With food being traded globally and new #technologies changing how we produce food, along with factors like climate change and #dietary habits, it's important to pay more attention to potential dangers to food safety that can occur at any stage of the food supply chain. 🍋 Having systems that give early warnings is key to reducing the risks associated with various hazards. Being able to spot signals of potential #foodsafety issues early on and providing timely warnings for authorities and organizations is essential. To achieve this, it's important to promote the use of #innovative digital tools based on evidence and provide the necessary information to support their use in early warning systems for food safety. 🔗 Read the FAO report here: https://lnkd.in/eM-whGex

🌍Did you know June 7 is the annual World Food Safety Day?🌱 The United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization have designated “Food Safety: Prepare for the Unexpected” as the theme for 2024. This theme emphasizes the importance of being prepared for sudden food safety incidents, highlighting the crucial role everyone plays—from policymakers and food safety authorities to farmers, food business operators, and consumers. 🌾 At Agrolab, our focus extends beyond food contamination to addressing the ongoing discussion around plant protection products and their essential role in global food security. While plant protection products can have a negative reputation, it's critical to acknowledge their role in ensuring that there is enough food for everyone. Our commitment to food safety from our position remains. It is our mission to ensure our food supply is safe to consume and produced in a manner that is safe for the environment. 🔍 Our Focus: Innovation in Biosolutions As we look toward the future, with increasing regulations and product compliance requirements, there is a growing need for innovations in plant production. We believe biostimulants and other biosolutions focusing on improving plant and soil health have great potential to close the gaps created by stricter regulations. 🤝 At Agrolab, we are not only collaborating with startup companies focusing on biosolutions but also actively participating in networking and conversations about the registration pathways of these innovative products. By optimizing field trial technology and methodology, as well as regulatory processes, we want to contribute to making biosolutions more accessible and affordable. #WorldFoodSafetyDay #FoodSafety #SustainableAgriculture #Biosolutions #Innovation #PlantProtection #Agrolab

🌍🍽️ Happy World Food Safety Day! We believe that safe food is essential for a healthy and prosperous world. Today, on World Food Safety Day, we join the global community in emphasizing the importance of food safety at every stage of the food chain, from production to consumption. Food safety is not just a priority—it's a responsibility. Ensuring that the food we eat is safe, nutritious, and wholesome protects public health, supports economic prosperity, and fosters sustainable development. This year’s theme, “Food Standards Save Lives,” highlights the critical role that established standards play in maintaining the integrity and safety of our food supply. “One Health” approach is key, recognizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. Professionals like veterinarians, food scientists, microbiologists, agricultural specialists, public health officials, and environmental health officers play crucial roles in maintaining food safety. Here’s how we can contribute: 1. Adhere to Best Practices: Follow hygiene, storage, and preparation best practices. 2. Promote Education and Awareness: Spread knowledge about food safety standards. 3. Support Sustainable Practices: Back sustainable agriculture for a safer food system. 4. Collaborate Across Sectors: Work together to build a robust food safety culture. Let's recommit to food safety principles for a healthier future.
