Section Head, Movement Disorders at Cleveland Clinic Medical Director, Deep Brain Stimulation Program
Thank you, Jessica Krauser, for hosting me and Ellen Walter, NP, on your podcast https://lnkd.in/e842STPs, #thesecretlifeofparkinsons. I had the great pleasure of having the opportunity to answer your excellent questions about our work at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute, on improving the care of people with PD when hospitalized using a multifaceted proactive intervention utilizing a movement disorders specialized nurse practitioner consult service to screen for opportunities for care improvement. I discuss the problem of getting appropriate dosing and timing of PD medications when hospitalized and avoiding contraindicated medications. I illustrate with data from our foundational publication for this study, which was conducted in collaboration and support by the Annie Brooks and Parkinson's Foundation and published in the Journal of Parkinsonism and Related Disorders: https://lnkd.in/ecrdXeGC, and our upcoming analysis of our 1-year intervention data with the goal of showing the impact on reducing primary outcomes of length of stay, readmissions, and 90-day mortality. Stay tuned for more updates on our progress in this critical area. #neurology #ParkinsonsDisease #healthcareinnovation #patientcare

Many US and Canadian regions have been contending with the onslaught of wildfires in recent months and new studies have revealed the long-term exposure to the smoke particulates it produces are linked to dementia risk. As with many health conditions, early detection is key to informing clinical decisions of interventions to help improve health outcomes. Whether caused by external aggressors or predispositions to health factors amid an aging population, we strive to be a part of the solution for brain health through VoxNeuro CORE. Our neurophysiological cognitive assessments can assist providers in identifying specific deficits in patient brain function due to the impact of myriad cognitive conditions. We are also working with Boston University to develop validated diagnostic tools for Alzheimer’s disease, one of the most common form of dementia, as a way to help detect the risk of the disease and track its progression. Visit us at voxneuro.com to learn more about how we are empowering providers' clinical decision-making through comprehensive, evidence-based data. #brainhealth #wildfires #wildfiresmoke https://hubs.ly/Q021bXP20

AccendoWave - A Pain #Data Company The more we understand about people’s unique response to #pain, the closer we can get to giving them the right pain relief. An #objective marker of #pain would bypass the distortions caused by cognitive and social factors. And it would help patients who cannot communicate (such as those in a vegetative state) as well as young children and babies. A Health Equity Solution and Top 50 Remote Monitoring Company, AccendoWave, benchmarks objective #brain wave pain data (specialty, gender, age) and has nine pain #databases: Emergency Department, Maternal Health, Oncology, MSK, Medical Surgical, ICU, Women, Adults, Seniors to eliminate #bias, improve #outcomes and reduce health care costs. If desired, AccendoWave can also create customized pain databases for partners that can be accessed on the Datavant platform. https://lnkd.in/gjx5TaKe
