CTO, RCCE®,Rocheston Certified Cybersecurity Engineer, Penetration Tester, Cybercrime Investigator, Cybersecurity Compliance Officer
The Pentagon has a Cybersecurity skills shortage problem. 1/4 of DOD cyber jobs are vacant. Civilian cyber workers are the main challenge, as it's harder for DOD to attract and keep them. Nearly a quarter of the Pentagon’s cyber jobs are unfilled. The Defense Department has long struggled with maintaining its cyber workforce, which consists of about 75,000 civilians, 25,000 troops, and about 75,000 contractors. The problem is nobody is applying for these jobs because they lack the necessary cybersecurity qualifications. And civilian cyber workers are the main challenge, as it's harder for DOD to attract and keep them. Note: Good news. Rocheston is here to help the DoD with our flagship RCCE® training program. Details coming soon. 😎

Noting the recent news around potential National Service for British 18 year olds and that those who choose and are selected for military service / training will be trained in logistics, cyber security, procurement or civil response operations over a year-long period. The mention of cyber security is interesting. I have two questions for my connections, please comment with thoughts: 1) Many of my LinkedIn connections will have received their initial cyber training and experience in the British Forces. Is this potentially a great start in the working life for the recruits? 2) It is interesting to see cyber security has been used as an election manifesto item. Is this the first time? I don’t remember it coming up before.

The role of computers and portable media devices such as cell phones and global positioning system (GPS) devices in criminal activity has increased significantly in recent years. These devices frequently contain vital evidence, including user data, files, call logs, location information, text messages, and audio and video recordings. Cyber defense #forensics plays an important role in infrastructure protection, law enforcement, counterintelligence, counterterrorism, and safety. According to the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Careers and Studies (#NICCS), cyber defense forensics analysts analyze digital evidence and investigate security incidents to derive useful information in support of system and network #vulnerability #mitigation. People who work with digital forensics in #cybersecurity are on the front lines in the fight against #cybercrime. Thanks to Trailhead for creating this concise yet informative trail (https://lnkd.in/d9Qa9QtY) on Cyber Defense Forensics. Before reading the modules in this trail, I only had a vague idea about the nitty-gritties of the forensics department and responsibilities of the forensics analyst. I now feel more confident and equipped with the jargon/terminology used in forensics. #cyberattack, #forensicanalysis
