Hey weekend LinkedIn people, I have something JOYFUL to share .... my son's new 3D designed/printed family game: https://lnkd.in/gVXvCdiW It's called Bad Plumbing Game by Liam Thomas Clift. My son just graduated from Cretin-Derham Hall, started his 1st full summer job at Games by James yesterday and starts in computer science and game design in the fall at Augsburg University. He's navigated and overcome real challenges to be who he is and embrace his passions. For that we are so proud. As a parent, who lost a parent at 17 and then made hometown college choices that supported my family over my own potential, BUT then because of that became someone who has essentially created every job I've has since 1991, I'm doubling down Liam's dream of having an independent game design company some day. As other parents in our friend circles have been blessed with athletes and driven them all over for this or that opportunity, I been taking Liam to play testing events like Protospiel MN or to the IGDA Twin Cities. One thing that Liam really doesn't like is social media (and marketing online). Get him in a Discord voice chat with members of the Titancraft Minecraft server plotting a major build and "mini-game" and you'd think he'd embracing digital marketing. Not so. So, in large part because we think Liam's game has serious potential, we've made the social media and "digital doorknocking" about the game's Kickstarter a family affair. We'd love nothing more than to see Liam have the opportunity to design game after game as part of his living (keep your day job son!) and not just have it be a hobby. So OMG, it's been awhile since I set up "all" the social accounts for a passion project. And "all" is now triple the networks. I'm definitely getting a schooling as well on ... TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, Blue Sky, Pinterest (making Boards of real world bad plumbing and other balance games) .... hmmm, oh yeah Mastodon is left to do. Follow away: https://lnkd.in/g_X8CnRp Anyway, we'll focus on the platforms that seem to generate interest. At first glance, TikTok is crushing the others in terms of making you feel like you belong and people like you ... but then under-the-hood people only watch the first 8 seconds of video ... so, Liam has work to do to generate more snappy video content.

A great idea, and nice to emphasise the positive aspects of the game - it's about building something up, and lets you celebrate winning rather than punishing a loser ...
