A well-written and important article written by my good friend Anusha Bhana about the 2nd nationwide activation as part of ToiTū Te Tiriti (Honour the Treaty) movement. It starts by providing helpful context as well. Please read.

Across Aotearoa New Zealand on Thurs 30th May, Māori mobilised for the 2nd nationwide activation as part of the ToiTū Te Tiriti (Honour the Treaty) movement. A group of tangata whenua and tangata tiriti (non-Māori) activated in Te Whitianga-ā-Kupe (Whitianga) where I live, before travelling Te Kauaeranga (Thames) to participate in the larger Hauraki activation. I was asked by the local mana wāhine who organised the Whitianga hīkoi to cover both events. This is my article - it is written from the perspective of a non-Māori person who stands in solidarity with tangata whenua. It is unashamedly in support of indigenous rights. I encourage you to read it, share it & join us at the next activation! ❤️🤍🖤 https://lnkd.in/gziJfsi9

Celebrating Filipino Heritage Month: Honoring History, Culture, and Contributions June is a special time to celebrate Filipino Heritage Month in the United States, honoring the rich history, culture, and contributions of Filipino Americans and Filipinos worldwide. This observance aligns with June 12, Philippine Independence Day, marking the declaration of independence from Spanish colonial rule in 1898. Celebrating in June allows communities to align festivities with this important historical event, emphasizing national pride and cultural heritage. Cultural Awareness: Increase awareness and appreciation of Filipino culture, traditions, and history. An important aspect is understanding the difference between the use of "F" and "Ph." "Filipino" refers to anything related to the Philippines, including the people, language, and culture, while "Philippines" refers to the geographic location. The usage of "Filipino" reflects the historical and linguistic heritage accurately. Recognition: Highlight the significant contributions of Filipino Americans to society in various fields such as arts, politics, science, and community service. Community Engagement: Strengthen community ties and promote solidarity among Filipino Americans and other communities. For resources to learn more, visit the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS), The Filipino Channel (TFC), National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA), and Philippine Consulates and Embassies. Let’s take this month to honor and celebrate the vibrant Filipino heritage and its impact on our communities! hashtag #FilipinoHeritageMonth hashtag #CulturalAwareness hashtag #CommunityEngagement hashtag #PhilippineIndependenceDay

#WhenCareWorkIsShared: G. Chinsanaa’s story is from Mongolia. G. Chinsanaa, new father of a young family, emphasizes “an awareness of one’s duty” as an influencing factor for the equal share not only for household chores but on every aspect of life. He reflects on the historical division of labor, where men were tasked with physical strength-based activities like hunting and protection, leaving domestic care work primarily to women and girls. However, he emphasizes that in today's 21st century, the paradigm has shifted. G. Chinsanaa highlights the importance of emotional intelligence and harmony within the family unit. "In a balanced life filled with love and respect, raising a child, and pursuing a career, it's crucial to recognize the shared responsibility between partners," G. Chinsanaa remarks. He emphasizes that decision-making within a family should be a collaborative effort, where the strengths and contributions of both partners are valued and respected. As we navigate the complexities of modern family life, let's regard G. Chinsanaa's words and strive for equality, harmony, and mutual respect. Together, we can create homes where care work is shared.
