Wishing all my friends and colleagues across Local Government well who are involved in the General Election. Regardless of political persuasions it is a huge day for our society. Hopefully, you'll get some well-earned rest tomorrow. I know today is probably not the best day to want to talk to interim Monitoring Officers but time and indeed Local Government wait for no-one, so I am keen to discuss a very interesting opportunity with interim MOs in confidence regardless of today's outcome... Many thanks, Neil #localgovernment #interimmanagement #monitoringofficer

The rollercoaster on s21 continues today. Without support, the court system won't be able to manage new processes for possession proceedings which cut out the accelerated route and that problem is holding back change. It will be very interesting to see how this develops during the latest debates
Quite the ‘u-turn’ given his announcement a few months ago that “s21s would definitely be abolished by the general election”. There have continued to be huge question marks over how the final Act would look - and how the significant backlogs in the County Court would be addressed. We will have to wait and see what happens after todays debate

CMs, PMs and other elected MLAs and MPs should not be allowed to campaign for their party in election. Let the term be completed. There should be buffer period of two to three months when all can campaign be allowed but not with government labels. Let Governors and President take governance in their hands without power of any major decisions. I also feel there should be election of President and Governors also seperately. Party tag should not be used. Eligibility should be community work of highest standards. Today whole machinery is used by party in power. And before elections party in power try to malign opposition and may cease their bank accounts or arrest their leaders or do everything to obstruct their campaigns. Very bad for democracy.

As we await the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on September 6, 2023, we call on the Tribunal to be fair and just in its judgment. We expect members of the panel to comply with the law and enforce high standards of conduct to preserve the integrity and independence of the judiciary. Also, we call on election institutions to intensify efforts to build public trust and confidence as well as ensure accountability, transparency, and integrity in the electoral process. #Post2023GeneralElection #MonitoringTheJudiciary #OpenJudiciary #2023ElectionTribunals #ElectionJudiciaryIntegrity2023 #NaijaDecides2023
