We at The Fun Food Company work with Teachers every day, and we see you in your good moments and in your difficult moments. We want to take this opportunity to Thank you, and give you some encouragement for the next academic year. Please print or save this post, and read it when you are struggling. You are awesome because… 1) You give love, attention, and acceptance to all students. 2) You help their students succeed academically, even when that takes extra time to alter a lesson, one-on-one time, or staying after hours to make sure they understand. 3) You make students feel special. You talk with them in the corridor and say, “Hi,” even when they are no longer in your class. 4) You see the potential in every student and do everything within your power to bring out their best. 5) You try your best to understand your students’ needs, and then sacrifice your needs for the needs of your students. 6) You’re creative. Even if you’ve taught the same lesson for 10 years, you constantly improve yourself and come up with new and creative ways to teach. 7) You are selfless. The entirety of your work revolves around building leaders for tomorrow. 8) You comfort those in deepest need. The little girl who just bumped her head and tripped and fell on her way to the teacher for a hug, or the teen who just needed to talk through what was going on at home. 9) You teach important character traits like kindness, patience, honesty, integrity, and the value of hand washing. 10) You believe in your students and show them each day by simply being there and helping them use their passions and their strengths to make the world better. Then even after all this, your school has a visit from The Award Winning School Food Showdown, and you put your all into taking the role of Chef in a Ready, Steady, Cook style show in front of 200 students - all in the name of Healthy Eating. Second Chance - DC Central Kitchen To my sisters & brothers, Its a different culinary world post Covid... where did all the cooks go? I want to remind all of us to not be afraid of offering second chances. Most of us in this industry have had at least one or two and i was humbled by my last experience at DC Central Kitchen giving a Lecture. Those students oozed passion, drive, redemption and determination. They were Hungry. They were Moldable. A Night of Professional Development! This Monday marked the ACCT 300 Colloquium Annual Etiquette Dinner, meticulously coordinated by Dr. Monica Mendoza. Our Accounting Colloquium students engaged in a four-course meal, accompanied by lessons in dining and professional etiquette. We extended the invitation to students from Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity, fostering connections and knowledge sharing.
