An incredible asset right here in eastern North Carolina!
Building a wind farm requires support from countless local vendors, benefiting area businesses and workers. At Timbermill Wind Near Edenton, NC, wind turbine components manufactured both stateside and globally are staged at Riverbulk Terminal, operated by Stevens Towing Company on the Chowan River. This impressive local hub allows for the efficient transport of wind turbine components via barge from the Port of Morehead City (where they were first delivered by rail and sea) to the project area.

Highlights from our recent STEM East Blue Economy Industry Workshop. Led by Lisa Jackson, this event brought together educators, industry leaders, and the STEM East team to explore the Blue Economy. Teachers learned its importance in our area, focusing on Marine Construction and Aquaculture. Our excellent teacher leads, Misty Guthrie and Christine Wayne, made the sessions engaging and fun. We want to thank Carteret Community College for hosting our event and supporting our teachers. One of the highlights of the day was touring Jarrett Bay Boatworks and seeing marine construction up close. We wrapped up the first day with a magical dinner at the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. A big thank you to Lisa Jackson for her leadership, our teacher leads for their guidance, our hosts, and the fantastic team at Jarrett Bay Boatworks 🌊 #BlueEconomy #TeacherLeadership #STEMEducation #NCEastAlliance #SustainableFuture #EmpoweringEducators
