As a delegate at the #NAACPNationalConvention this past week, I was able to connect with civil rights leaders from across the country and experience diverse, dynamic speakers. I heard calls to action and plans of action around #BlackLiveMatter #translivesmatter #WeStandwithSAGAFTRA #ReproductiveRights #CilmateJustice #Antisemitism Two key takeaways: 1.)The fight for Black lives is intersectional and to the benefit of all humans. 2.)You don't have to abandon your own faith to support freedom and human rights for all #ResistDivideAndConquer #noneofusarefreeuntilallofusarefree

🌍✊ Human Rights Day - A Call to Action ✊🌍 Today, on Human Rights Day, we at the John and Lillian Miles Lewis Foundation (JLMLF) honor the enduring spirit and unwavering dedication of Congressman John Lewis in championing human rights. This day commemorates the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a milestone document proclaiming the inalienable rights everyone is entitled to as human beings. It echoes a truth Congressman Lewis lived by: that human rights are the foundation of freedom, justice, and peace in the world. John Lewis fought tirelessly not just for civil rights, but for the broader spectrum of human rights. He believed in a world where every individual is respected, where each voice is heard, and where equality is not just a dream but a reality. He once said, “You are a light. You are the light. Never let anyone—any person or any force—dampen, dim or diminish your light... Release the need to hate, to harbor division, and the enticement of revenge. Release all bitterness. Hold only love, only peace in your heart, knowing that the battle of good to overcome evil is already won.” On this Human Rights Day, let’s honor his legacy by recommitting ourselves to the fight for equality, justice, and human dignity. Let us be the light that guides towards a more just and compassionate world. Join us in standing up, speaking out, and continuing the journey towards human rights for all. #HumanRightsDay #JohnLewisLegacy #StandUpForRights #JLMLF #GoodTrouble

Coming out in order to live openly isn’t something you do once, or even for one year. It’s a decision that we make every single day of our lives. Every coming out experience is unique and must be navigated in the way most comfortable for the individual. Whether it's for the first time ever or the first time today, coming out can be an arduous journey. It is also a brave decision to live authentically. Speaking Legally: A Glance Back at Human Rights History Brief lesson from history: ever heard of the Cyrus Cylinder? 539 BC, a new charter issued by King Cyrus of Persia. Many consider it as the world's first human rights declaration. Yet, centuries later, we're still battling injustice and disdain for basic human rights. Our commitment: shedding light on these issues, relentlessly pursuing justice, globally. Remember, #JusticeNeverSleeps. #SpeakUp #HumanRightsHistory
