In May, I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Media and Journalism and a minor in Data Science and received a certificate in business journalism. I am very excited to announce that I have started a summer production internship with ABC World News Tonight with David Muir. I am very thankful to Jennifer Metz and Edward W. for their confidence in me and guidance! This opportunity has already made me more well-rounded, and I'm eager to continue growing and learning this summer. In conjunction with my internship, I'm also participating in the International Radio & Television Society fellowship, and I am grateful to be sponsored as a Richard Leibner Memorial Fellow. I am beyond thankful to Lauren Kruk-Winokur and Andrea MacRae for choosing me for this opportunity! Stay tuned for more updates throughout the summer!

What great opportunities. Go into both of them with your eyes wide open and willing to learn everything at meet anyone. If they don’t come up to you… You go up to them and introduce yourself. Be a sponge and take it all in.Make sure you leave both opportunities with great knowledge, but also names of possible recommendations from people who know your work ethic, passion, and love for journalism. Along the way also find more mentors that will help you guide your career. Good luck.

North Carolina will expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act on December 1st. Previously, the Medicaid cut-off age was 18, but adults ages 19 through 64 who earn up to 138% of the federal poverty will qualify. Many low-income college students fall under that category. My summer internship with Bloomberg News recently ended, and I’m so thankful for the time I spent working on the podcast team. Thank you to Carmen Rodriguez, Gilda Di Carli, and Anna Mazarakis for being such great leaders and mentors. Throughout my 10-week internship, I contributed to episodes on several podcasts, including The Odd Lots, In The City, Zero, and The Big Take. I edited audio and transcript, recorded man-on-the-street interviews, wrote wrapper articles, researched, and put together a piece for Bloomberg Radio. Thank you also to Sonali Pathirana, Robert Boehm, Sommer Saadi, Vicki Vergolina, Anya Andrianova, Christine Driscoll, and everyone who made it possible and contributed to my growth. I look forward to applying the valuable knowledge and skills I gained this summer as I start my senior year at UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media and continue to pursue my career. Thank you, Bloomberg, for an unforgettable summer!

A very pleasant morning with Matt Winkler, editor-in-chief emeritus at Bloomberg, along with Aashna Shah, Nayeli Jaramillo-Plata and Cristela Jones. Matt told us the early history of why he initiated the Business Diversity Program with UNC Chapel Hill and later with UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, my alma mater, and City, University of London. And as with every other interaction with him, I left the room feeling more energised and motivated. Thanks, Maureen C. Muenster and Sonali Pathirana, for entertaining our requests and making the meeting possible. 🫶

I participated in the Bloomberg Journalism Diversity Program last summer. It was a unique and eye-opening experience. It motivated me to pursue a career in financial journalism, and I networked with an extraordinary journalist.
