Meet one of our alumni and #agsalumni Gamma Chapter Foundation board member, Eli Thomssen! 👉🏼Career Position: President & CEO of Adlore, Inc.. Adlore is developing a boot device to improve diabetic foot ulcer healing rates utilizing electrical stimulation and heat to increase blood flow and reduce pain, and sensors to monitor wound conditions and then communicate this information to the patient and clinician. 👉🏼Why AGS: I was contacted by four different fraternities prior to starting my freshman year, but chose not to participate in rush week. Once school started, I visited the fraternities that had contacted me and chose AGS. This decision was influenced by someone from my hometown (Grand Island) that I respected, but also the quality of the men in the house when I pledged AGS. These men were good students scholastically, and active on campus. They became excellent mentors that helped mold my college experience, and I was always proud to say that I was a member of Alpha Gamma Sigma 👉🏼Officer Positions Held: President the second semester of junior year and first semester of my senior year 👉🏼Highlights of being in AGS: One of the highlights when I was President was working with an accounting professor to set up an accounting system. AGS was still a relatively new fraternity, and managing house finances was very haphazard. The new system included financial planning and accountability, and it was a major adjustment for the house treasurer. 👉🏼Impact of fraternity on personal and professional development: Being a member of AGS gave me the opportunity to 1) learn how to collaborate and work as a team, 2) develop leadership skills, 3) improve communication skills, 4) personal growth, and 5) to develop lifelong friendships. 👉🏼Favorite fraternity event: The first is homecoming and the second was the Red Rose formal. Homecoming was the opportunity to develop plans for the house display, and then working as a team to make it happen. The Red Rose Formal was an opportunity socialize in a different setting than other events. 👉🏼How the fraternity made him the man he is today: Being a member of AGS gave me the opportunity develop the skills I used throughout my career. The opportunity to participate on house projects provided an opportunity to begin honing these skills, and then these skills were further developed once I graduated and pursued my career 👉🏼Advice to current fraternity members: Do your very best academically. Seek internships related to your field of study to ensure this is what you want to pursue as a career. Participate in house projects and campus activities by either leading or being a good member. Once you graduate, continue learning. Dory is such a wonderful character. She did not have a great memory. Her solution - Just keep swimming... And that's such a powerful message. Often we delve too much on the past - What we did wrong! What wrong somebody did to us! What went wrong! So much so that we forget about living in present. I know it is very difficult but despite all that happened in the past, WE HAVE GOT TO KEEP MOVING. To all the students who did not get the desired result this year; it's OKAY. Your past does not define you; Your future actions do. Start preparing for GDPI for when you receive any calls. If you do not, take the time to start preparing for next year and in the meanwhile look for alternate options like Internship, Job, Short term courses to add value to your career. It was the most surprising mentorship call ever!!! ⚠️ "𝐁𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐲𝐚, 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, ����𝐞𝐭 𝐮𝐩 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐨𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐛𝐮𝐬!"
