Cruise shipping may appear to many residents to be a relatively small segment of the Great Lakes region's overall massive tourism economy but its importance cannot be underestimated. And its growing. It diversifies our tourism economies in a positive way, utilizes spectacular and unique seaway infrastructure, increases pride of place within communities, and is a catalyst for waterfront development enhancements in communities. It supports local businesses and gives inspiration to new entrepreneurs. Cruise clients spend more daily per person than the average visitor. The vessels require servicing as well and that generates further economic impacts. Cruise itinerary planners that work with destinations help them draw the best out of themselves. Their global lens helps communities, especially those in economic transition, see their potential from an objective perspective. It helps change the dialogue in communities and supports investments in creating more clean, green and beautiful spaces for visitors. Major respected brands in cruising elevate the reputation of the region through that brand alignment. Discovery cruising attracts a curious, affluent and/or educated consumer to the region who are often influential in their own business, personal and social circles. That influence helps sell the region to their friends, colleagues and families. That’s why it’s important for communities to lead with their best experiences and deliver with exceptional customer service. Cruising attracts media. The cruise lines themselves invest significantly in selling their itineraries. That itself brings awareness. Travel and industry media also cover cruising and that was valued in excess of $7.6 million CDN of earned media value in 2022 for the Great Lakes region. Check out the latest story on Great Lakes Cruising in this Wednesday's National Post, with Robin Robinson enjoying the Viking Octantis' Milwaukee to Thunder Bay itinerary.

There is an entire segment of travel advisors that are starting to discover how exciting expedition is, and working to sell their very first expeditions. Trying to figure out where to find these travelers, how to market to them. Something so important to keep in mind is: LUXURY IS A MINDSET. I recently attended the LTA Ultra Luxury Summit, and one fact I found so interesting is there is demographic in this market known as RISING LUXURY. Maybe they don’t have the incomes of luxury travelers, but they don’t buy based on their income; they buy based on WHAT THEY THINK THEY DESERVE!! Do they deserve to be part of the 1% of the population that will step foot on the 7th continent…YES, THEY DO! What is the lesson here? Just because past clients haven’t spent $10-15k per person previously, doesn’t mean they won’t for the right experience. But they don’t know that YOU can help them if you’re not marketing a luxury expedition experience to transformative, life-changing destinations. They might not even know that a trip style like expedition exists! NOW is a good time to start with Swan Hellenic Limited Antarctica Dream Deal, with 9 night Antarctica Peninsula Discovery expeditions starting from $8470 per person. #antarctica #expedition #luxury

Embark on your ultimate Antarctic adventure, where the seventh continent beckons intrepid travelers to explore a frozen wilderness of unparalleled landscapes and wildlife. Planning such an extraordinary journey demands meticulous preparation, and this concise guide serves as your roadmap. Antarctica boasts a unique landscape adorned with snow-covered mountains, active volcanoes, glaciers, and icebergs, while penguins, seals, whales, and seabirds create a captivating wildlife spectacle. Experience up to 24 hours of sunlight during certain periods, engaging in thrilling activities like diving, kayaking, trekking, climbing, and exploration. Following in the footsteps of revered explorers, you'll carve your legacy in a pristine wilderness untouched by mass tourism. Timing is crucial for an Antarctic expedition, with the high season (Dec-Feb) offering the best weather conditions, while the low season (Apr-Oct) sees poor weather and no tours. Consider shoulder seasons (Oct, Nov, Mar) for a more intimate experience. Budgeting is essential, given the variety of tour options, and a significant investment is expected. The duration of your Antarctic tour depends on personal preferences, with mid-range tours lasting 12 days to two weeks, striking a balance between travel time, offshore activities, and exploration. Entry requirements include an Antarctic permit, and careful consideration of your transportation mode is vital. Top tour booking tips include departing from Ushuaia, the hub for 90% of Antarctic cruises, exploring alternative routes, verifying shore access, and opting for budget-friendly options. Pack essentials like sunblock, waterproof boots, thermal layers, and anti-nausea medication. Prioritize health and safety, staying hydrated, maintaining normal sleep patterns, and securing comprehensive travel insurance. Physical preparation aids in coping with the challenges of the journey. Travel tips suggest exploring the departure city, arriving early, adhering to weight restrictions, socializing with fellow travelers, dressing in layers, and considering vessel size for stability and access to remote locations. Partner with experienced tour operators for a transformative and unforgettable Antarctic experience, as this destination surpasses all others, offering breathtaking beauty and untouched grandeur. #antarctica #guidedtour #antarticatravel #travel #travelagent #travelgram #travelindustry #contentwriter #travelwriter

Winter is the best season for the Northern Lights safari, an exciting and captivating activity you may undertake in northern Norway or the Lofoten Archipelago. But aurora borealis is rather unpredictable, and these tips will help you to hunt for the Northern Lights 😉 Tip #1: Use the Aurora Forecast tool to see in which areas aurora borealis will most probably appear. Tip #2: Keep in mind that the two periods are somewhat “ideal” for the Northern Lights safari: September-October and February-March. Tip #3: Dress warmly and appropriately when preparing to go for an aurora borealis hunt. Tip #4: It doesn’t have to be cold in order for you to see the Northern Lights. It must rather be dark. That’s why those two periods (September-October and February-March) are best for this type of safari. Tip #5: The weather in the Arctic Circle is notoriously unpredictable. So, even though you may have a clear sky before the Northern Lights come out, that situation might change quickly and you won’t be able to see aurora borealis on that night. #northernlights #auroraborealis #travel #travelphoto #travelphotography #travelphotographer #adventure #adventuretime #adventuretravel #winter #winter2021 #traveltheworld #norway #arctic #lofoten #traveltips #traveladvice #travelgram #travelblogger

Journey through Drake Passage to the icy continent of Antarctica!! 🐬 If you are the adventurous type, a trip to Antarctica must have crossed your mind? 🕸 The icy continent is every adventure-lover’s dream destination! 🌼 The ways to reach Antarctica: by air and by sea. The air route takes just a few hours, but it is also the least preferred way. The sea route is the most popular way to reach Antarctica. Drake Passage is the utmost important aspect of the sea travel. 🚣♀️ It's a narrow body of water which is located between Cape Horn in South America and the South Shetland Islands in Antarctica. 🏄♀️ The passage connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean in easiest way. Don’t, for a second, think that since the sea route is the most popular route, it is all good. 🌿 Drake Passage is notorious for its treacherous waters. No wonder it is counted among the Earth’s most difficult waterways. The passage is approximately 1000 km wide and is no stranger to storms. As dangerous as it is, the Drake Passage is among the most photogenic places in the world. ✨ Major sailing expeditions and cruises venture into this challenging stretch of water for experiencing the raw beauty and awe-inspiring landscapes as well as wildlife of Antarctica. 🎉 Do follow Akriti Sharma !! 1moNatural Habitat Adventures I HIGHLY recommend your Churchill trip—the one that includes dogsledding, helicopterring to a polar bear den, & seeing polar bears on land that haven’t eaten for 145 days—no sea 🌊 ice, & polar bear is gathering on the edge of the Hudson Bay waiting for the ice to freeze… & Testing it out to see if it’s frozen yet. I even created a wonderful children’s book on the trip that’s in DC Public libraries and Amazon –‘Rozanne Tracks 🐾 Polar Bears at Edge of Arctic’
