Creating a sustainable Paralympic Sport ecosystem in India - Paralympic Sports Specialist | Paralympic Classification
Unless we have broadcasters, we wont have enough viewers, unless we have viewers, we wont have enough para sports followers, unless have enough para sports followers, we wont have enough para sport lover, unless we have para sports lover, we wont have the potential growth in the Paralympic Movement. it is likely that a country with a large population and a strong sporting culture will have the highest overall sports viewership, thus countries like India, China, US, with a high percentage of sports viewership, can play a major role in creating the awareness and building interest for Paralympic sports. Additionally, IPC must put measures so that specialized subjects like classification could be made understandable to everyone watching the sport. Tools like LEXI (Giles Long) can prove to be a game changer if accepted and implemented strategically by IPC and globally. International Paralympic Committee

Transport - Olympic & Paralympic Games. Planing transportation for any Olympic & Paralympic Games is tough. A ton of moving parts that all have to be in sync for the transport plan to succeed. As the City of Los Angeles gears up for the LA28 Olympic & Paralympic a Summer Games, it's imperative that the United States government lends its support to ensure seamless transport planning and operations. Here's a video of the US Secretary of Transportation explaining to the US Congress Subcommittee on Transportation about the importance of its collaboration with the LA28 Organizing Committee, the City of Los Angeles, and CALDOT which is essential to guaranteeing efficient movement of athletes, spectators, and goods, showcasing the US's commitment to hosting world-class events while enhancing infrastructure and mobility for all. #LA28 #Olympics #Paralympics #TransportPlanning

How will Australia deliver on the vision to #WinWell? Day 2 of #WC2WB kicked off today with a panel conversation unpacking what it means and what it takes to win well. Paralympic athletes Vanessa Low OAM and Angie Ballard talked about the importance of knowing athletes individually, finding ways for each athlete to be at there best when it matters most. The pursuit of “winning well” in a Paralympic context [and arguably every context with the aim of optimising human performance] requires understanding the person, their impairment and unique needs for unlocking performance. A few takeaways on how to go the distance in pursuit of excellence in sport: ✅Value people beyond their performance. ✅ Keep the bigger plan in mind ✅ There is always something that can be done to improve. Keep moving forward. ✅The joy of sport is in the here and now. Don’t just look at the results. Enjoy the process. Paralympics Australia Australian Sports Commission #highperformance #paris2024

1984 Olympic 2x Bronze medalist (200 & 4x100m) Thomas Jefferson and I had a friendly debate. Which US Olympic team had the most medals 1984 or 2016? This answer is a little complicated. We called our in-house track and field statition and historian Duffy Mahoney for this answer. He said 1984 won 40 medals but they put an astrik by it because Russia boycotted the 1984 Olympic Games. 2016 the U.S. competed against Russia and the rest of the world and we won 32 medals. Technically 1984 has the most but they didn’t compete against the whole world. Do you think the 1984 Olympic team won this debate or do you think 2016 Olympic Team won? #ShotDiva #TeamUSA #History #Olympians

I was a schoolboy javelin thrower. I got to represent my county (Greater Manchester). Solid thrower, but nothing remarkable. Rugby was my main sport. I remember in my event only ever seeing white competitors. Actually, rugby wasn't much different. Fast forward to the 2023 World Athletics Championship: 🥇gold to India 🇮🇳 🥈 silver to Pakistan 🇵🇰 In the top 10 throwers: three Indians 🇮🇳 one Pakistani 🇵🇰 and one Egyptian 🇪🇬 How cool! Some are blessed with more talent than others. Talent needs training. Talent and training need support. Showing up inspires others. Winning inspires even more and changes the script. Sport is hard, but athletics is one of those things where if you turn up, the track and the field are open to all, and you stand a fair chance of having an opportunity to win. I contrast this with many workplaces, discussions on LinkedIn etc where some suggest a lack of diversity is due to a lack of talent or appetite from the underrepresented. I don't believe that. The talent is there, they are trained and hungry. They've made the qualification times and distances, but too often the track and field (workplaces) are closed to them. We need to offer more support... #athletics #sport #worldchampionships https://lnkd.in/e_Tx8fPe
