Laura suffered a stroke in April this year and thankfully, she had the opportunity to meet our paramedic Rebecca Mobbs and Triple Zero Victoria Call-Taker, Stuart Atkins, who assisted on the day. Laura doesn’t remember much that day but recalls Rebecca’s reassurance and care as they transported her to Frankston Hospital. The fast identification of the signs of stroke by Laura’s grandson Jarrod, and Stuart, meant help was on its way sooner. Her case was complex and required quick intervention and transfer from Frankston Hospital to Monash Clayton, but Rebecca said the MICA paramedics did a fantastic job working as a team to provide Laura the care she needed. Minutes matter and it’s vital you know the warning signs for a stroke. By identifying F.A.S.T signs of a stroke, you can save a life – Face, Arms, Speech and Time.
