It's that time of year when parents start to panic about their summer plans - and who's going to take care of their children. In this article, the author discusses parents' anxieties about shipping their children off to summer camp vs. the benefits of fostering in them independence and resilience. Here at La Garenne, we spend a lot of time counselling parents before they make their decision, particularly on issues such as safety and support. Armed with the right information, parents come to understand that their children will adapt well and have a truly memorable time at Summer Camp. https://lnkd.in/eHp7RZ94

For those parents who contributed towards this survey, thank you🙏 Now there is no right or wrong answer and both responses are positive in terms of intent, but there is a preferred choice if you really want to give your child a better chance of long term emotional well-being. And hence the word - BEING. Ultimately we are human beings and our worth comes from who we are, not what we DO. We are not human DOINGS. Even though we have probably been trained in affirming our child's achievements, in the long term they will not always be ACHEIVING, they'll be BEING. This is not about not celebrating or acknowledging your child's accomplishments and creations. This is about what's your priority in your child's development...its also about balance. When you child goes onto be an adult, it's a priority that they are comfortable in their own skin, they are fulfilled and sure if who they are in their identity and have peace...and if they are not DOING something that is contributing towards they're goals when it doesn't warrant it then they are settled and OK, not anxious, despairing and feeling like they are under ACHEIVING. And when they are contributing towards their goals and aspirations they are doing it from a place of love and worth in knowing who they are... If they are just doers they are in effect empty unfulfilled vessels. Keeping rocking it parents... If you feel disconnected from your kids and that you are slowly slipping into obscurity and un-importance, direct message me so we can jump on a free consultation. https://lnkd.in/ehvv8N7A
