DID YOU KNOW?
Robco manufacturer of industrial products since 1911, also manufactured high-quality leather items such as: Bags, golf bags, specialized carry cases, bike seats, belts, sheaths and much more... Robco was also a provider of leather equipment to the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War.
Back then, leather played a crucial role as a gasket material in various industries. Renowned for its remarkable flexibility, durability, and resistance to compression, leather proved itself invaluable in environments where tight seals were imperative until the development of rubber gaskets and the use of asbestos as a gasket material offering superior heat and chemical resistance. Today, alongside rubber, composite materials stand at the forefront, combining strength, flexibility, and environmental safety. While leather gaskets may still be found in rare applications and vintage automotive restoration, but even for these uses, their prevalence has significantly diminished in favor of more advanced alternatives.
