What is the difference between hands only CPR and CPR training? Hands only CPR is a public awareness campaign to get people to act if they encounter a cardiac arrest. It involves two steps: calling 911 and starting compressions by pushing hard and fast in the center of the chest. Hands only CPR can be used on teens and adults. It is effective because compressions push the remaining oxygen through the body to keep vital organs alive. Learning this skill buys time until emergency responders arrive. CPR training is offered through online or in-person classes. It includes in depth training including CPR with breaths and choking relief. Receiving CPR training means you can help anyone in cardiac arrest including adults, teens, children, infants, pregnant women, and any victims of drowning, drug overdose or collapse due to breathing problems. CPR with breaths combines chest compressions and breaths, providing additional oxygen to circulate throughout the body. #nolensvillefire #cprawareness #aedawareness #savealife #cprsaveslives #heartsmart #cardiacarrest

As soon as the schools and nurseries are back the usual coughy, snotty bugs tend to follow don't they 🤧🤧🤧 Today I have a poorly little one at home who burst into tears at the thought of school because she doesn't feel well and wants a day in the big bed. There are some top tips that can help: ✅️Know the absence reporting procedures for your child's setting ✅️Have a good stock of over the counter medicine such as calpol ✅️Have a good thermometer- that doesn't mean an expensive one. It means one that you can use confidently and trust the results of. ✅️Know the signs that your child may require further medical attention. Our first aid class for parents/carers covers febrile seizures, sepsis and meningitis.

A recent incident on a freeway in South El Monte where a mother gave birth on the side of the road brings to light an unusual but critical situation that law enforcement might encounter. With traffic backed up and EMS delayed, what should you do if you’re the first responder? Tips for Managing a Roadside Birth: 1. Remain Calm ➡ Your calm demeanor can reassure the mother, which is crucial in a stressful situation. 2. Call for Medical Help ➡ If EMS isn’t already en route, ensure they’re contacted immediately with details of the situation. 3. Ensure Privacy and Safety ➡ Use vehicles or blankets to create a private and safe environment for the mother. 4. Do Not Interrupt the Birth Process ➡ Unless trained, do not attempt to intervene in the birth process. The body is typically capable of handling childbirth naturally. 5. Prepare for the Baby ➡ If the baby is born before EMS arrives, ensure the newborn is warm and the mother is comfortable. Gently clear the baby’s mouth and nose if necessary. 6. After Delivery ➡ Keep the mother and newborn warm until medical professionals arrive. Do not cut the umbilical cord; this will be managed by medical personnel. This scenario underscores the importance of EMT training for law enforcement officers, equipping them with the knowledge to handle unexpected medical emergencies until EMS arrives. Have you ever encountered a similar situation? It can be said that you don’t really understand a situation until you crunch the numbers. As educators in health, safety, and first aid, that rings true for us. We know our side of the numbers, like how cardiovascular disease is the #1 cause of death in America with 877,000 individuals succumbing to it every year. But what about the public? What do they want to know about heart health and first aid? So, we crunched the numbers. And we found some eye-opening stats. Like how 60% of Americans who suffer from cardiac arrest away from home are never helped by someone who knows CPR, yet more than 60% of every state’s search traffic shows residents want to learn more about CPR training. There’s so much more to the story. Check out our research for yourself on our blog. https://lnkd.in/exEUwFYp

Children are more susceptible to injuries due to their lack of awareness and tendency to engage in risky behavior. It is crucial to educate them about safety measures and ensure proper supervision. However, accidents can still occur due to their natural curiosity and hyperactivity. Learning how to treat minor injuries is important, as it allows us to effectively manage situations such as scraped knees, a common occurrence in children. While this can be distressing for the child, home care is often sufficient for treating such injuries. Seeking medical assistance is essential when injuries are severe or if there are concerns about infection or complications. Here is an article that will offer you more information on this topic: 👇 https://lnkd.in/geEUKAht #children #injury #safetymeasures #personalinjury
