We are proud to support further normalizing Cannabis and its acceptance as an industry and product with our federal and state law makers. Rescheduling is promising and a huge move in the right direction, but many questions and unknowns remain. We need that clarity and we need a unified/collective voice to help shape it. Once complete, Rescheduling will not be enough, now is not the time to slow down or wait to see what happens next, it is the time to double down on our collective efforts and momentum. FundCanna and our founder and CEO Adam Stettner will continue to do all we can to support the industry and its operators, big, small and everything between. The #cannabis industry in New York State is a legitimate trade built by hard-working and collaborative entrepreneurs who are enthusiastic about educating the public and passionate about contributing to neighborhood vitality. It has a great story—and cannabis entrepreneurs can do a better job of telling it. My first post in months…. It’s been my first post in months. It's funny how quickly time passes. This year has been truly busy, and as a result, I’ve put several things to the side, including my newsletter and general posting – which I plan to re-launch soon! Nonetheless, I wanted to share something I’ve spent time on this year that is important to me. Over the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with several companies operating in the cannabis space. From this vantage point, I’ve learned much about how companies can be operated – how things can go according to plan and how quickly they can go off course (mostly due to circumstances outside the team's control). Understanding how to create solutions for patients while solving problem after problem is a humbling experience, as is more common than we realise – all companies go through very intense ups and downs, and ultimately, it's up to the team to navigate these circumstances and based on the team dynamics – the outcomes can vary. So what is the reason for sharing this? I’ve had the pleasure over the past 5 months of working alongside a fantastic team of operators at the Stanley Brothers. The team is comprised of world-class operators from Oliver Zugel (experienced multi-thousand employee executive) to Jordan O'Donnell (built one of Australia's largest cannabis companies), Mark Ziegler (2 decards growing cannabis in California medical and adult use markets), and Mark De Luca (spearheaded ops & marketing for all Stanley Brothers brands in the USA) – as well as Jesse Stanley (Founder of Charlotte's Web) and Marcel Bonn-Miller PHD (cannabis research has been cited over 8,600 times). For any business to succeed, it requires a strong team – and I truly believe this team has the potential to shake up the cannabis industry here in Australia and around the world. The foundation of the business has been built upon a remarkable story regarding one little girl (Charlotte) and 7 brothers (the Stanley Brothers) more than 10 years ago. The story of these people changed cannabis in America and consequently across the globe; for anyone who has not seen the story of the brothers, it's worth a watch - what they accomplished truly moved the historic needle of cannabis in America. I pay respect to the Brothers and what they did in America – at a time when cannabis was still highly stigmatised and actively policed. The brothers changed the lives of thousands of patients and, consequently, their families and friends. The Brothers are now expanding into Australia, and a part of this journey includes a crowdfunding campaign to kick-start the expansion – as such, I wanted to share a link for anyone interested in taking part in a journey that has spanned over a decade, which has now found its way to Australia. Honoring Leadership: Six Governors Advocate for Cannabis Rescheduling Kudos to the visionary leadership demonstrated by Governors Wes Moore, Md., Jared Polis, Colo., JB Pritzker, Ill., John Bel Edwards, La., Phil Murphy, N.J., and Kathy Hochul, N.Y.! Their collective advocacy through a joint letter urging the rescheduling of cannabis by the DEA showcases a progressive mindset and a commitment to reform. This initiative not only reflects their understanding of the industry's potential but also emphasizes the importance of federal policy reform for the benefit of communities and businesses across the nation. Cannabis rescheduling aligns with the growing consensus for change, and aims for fair and equitable regulations. Leading cannabis industry experts, thought leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs are coming together on Saturday, February 24th, to explore the essential elements that contribute to the success of a cannabis business. In an ever-evolving landscape, navigating the complexities of the cannabis industry requires a comprehensive understanding of various factors. From compliance and regulatory challenges to branding, innovation, and sustainable practices, these discussions will delve into the key elements that drive success in this dynamic industry. This is a Hybrid program, taking place both online and in-person! The doors open at 9:00 am for registration, a networking continental breakfast, and vendor tables. Virtual attendees will join via Zoom. The program begins at 10:00 am with welcoming remarks and the keynote, “A Road Map to Success,” by social equity advocate and industry entrepreneur Tahir Johnson. Four roundtable discussions, each one hour long with a Q + A session. A catered lunch will be served between Roundtables B + C. Over the next few weeks, we’ll spotlight each roundtable focus and our Symposium speakers. The first roundtable we have is “Financial Management + Investment”. 🍃 4/20 is almost here… We’re hours away from the biggest cannabis holiday of the year. This had me thinking… How far we’ve come. #Cannabis is legal in more places than ever. Incredible innovation is taking place in this industry. More people have access to this medicine. New businesses and jobs are being created. And that’s just the beginning. Despite so many challenges: Cannabis is growing.  Granted, do we have more problems to solve? Absolutely. People are still in prison for this plant. Cannabis businesses are still stigmatized. And that’s just scratching the surface. We have a lot of work to do. But that’s what we’re here for. To create a better future. Let's keep pushing forward. Creating change.
