In 2020 we started our journey towards better sorting of plastic packaging waste using artificial intelligence. In 2021, Nationaal Testcentrum Circulaire Plastics and Danone formed the Perfect Sorting consortium including 9 like-minded brand owners and 2 universities to accelerate this development. In the project we assessed critical sorting criteria, available chemometrics & AI technologies, sorting strategies, and potential value of the newly sorted material. Based on these findings, together with PolyPerception, we built and demonstrated an AI based sorting solution for food-contact materials. In the attached video you can follow our journey. Danone, Procter & Gamble, LVMH, Ferrero, Colgate-Palmolive, Mars, Nestlé, Michelin, PepsiCo, Ghent University, Radboud University, PolyPerception, Nationaal Testcentrum Circulaire Plastics #artificialintelligence #packaging #circularity

EFSA requires 95% food contact products as input for rPET and 99% for rPO, is this possible in the future?

Dear Marie-Catherine C. @Danone, this is extremely interesting. I would like to invite you to deliver a presentation on this topic at the International Conference BLOW MOULDING 2024/8th edition (Sustainability & Innovations in Plastic Bottles & Containers), Brussels 10-11 December 2024, www.blow-moulding.com. The conference brings together the entire supply chain: recyclers, retailers, brand owners, suppliers of packaging solutions and components, manufacturers of machinery and tooling, suppliers of raw material and additives, researchers, regulators, sustainability experts, technology startups... I am sure your presentation will receive a lot of interest and compliments.
