It is with mixed emotions that I share an important update regarding my career journey. After a rewarding and unforgettable experience at Protiviti Middle East Member Firm I am excited to announce my decision to move back to India. Once you have invested time and money in moving abroad, it feels unethical to move back home. The guilt and pressure of taking the right decision can weigh heavily on your mind, causing disruptions in your thought process. To be confident about knowing what I am doing is correct for me, I did a few emotional and practical checks of my decision. 1. Gained insights from individuals who stayed in Dubai and analyzed whether their happiness or financial considerations drove their decision and used this comparison to assess my own situation. 2. Additionally, conversed with those who could have stayed but chose to return home, which broadened my perspective beyond visa status. 3. Spoke with people who desired to stay in Dubai but were unable to, which helped me understand the genuine value of the current opportunity. 4. Lastly, I prioritised my intuition alongside practical reasoning to guide my decision-making process. I went for my first international work trip! 8 years back when I moved from Chandigarh to Delhi to do my MBA, I had no idea which direction my career would take. But I decided to work in the “Change Management” space because I feel that the growth of your career is almost always directly proportional to the growth of the space you work in. This belief was strengthened when I was given the opportunity to go on a 3-week work trip to the UK, an experience that was both enlightening and affirming! Here are my key learnings: 1. Face-to-face interactions still hold unmatched value - Collaboration hits different when you’re in the same room and time zone as your stakeholders from all different nationalities. 2. Different Cultures coming Together - Everyone brought snacks from their countries. Amazing how food is such a powerful connector amongst such diverse people. 3. Personal Connect - My client lead and I bonded over lengthy discussions about our pet cats, which created a more relaxed and friendly working environment. I was able to know them at a human level. 4. Deeper Insights to ways of working - Visiting the local offices provided deep insights into their daily operations and work cultures, something hard to assess virtually. I’m grateful that I was given this opportunity at Accenture. Btw, I completed 6 years in my corporate career today. And I feel nothing but gratitude for all the experiences it has brought! #work #personaldevelopment

One-Year Work Anniversary! I am thrilled to be celebrating my one-year work anniversary at #Saipem today! It has been an incredible journey of growth and learning, and I am truly grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have shaped me professionally during this time. As I reflect on the past year, I want to share three valuable lessons that I have learned along the way: 1. Embrace the challenges - The beginning is often the toughest part of any journey, but perseverance is key. I have learned the importance of staying resilient and pushing through challenges without giving up. 2. Dare to be different - It takes courage to step out of your comfort zone. It takes courage to seek new paths and embrace unknown change, but the rewards are truly worth it. 3. Strength in adversity - Working and living abroad can present its own set of challenges, testing your resilience and adaptability. Your ability to navigate through adversity will not only define your character but also cultivate a sense of inner strength that will guide you through any situation. 🤗Yay!!! LinkedIn helped me find Connections in a New City!!! 🛬Moving to a new city or country can be both thrilling and challenging. When I relocated to #AbuDhabi, I found myself in this exact situation. However, thanks to LinkedIn, my transition was made much smoother. As soon as I updated my #LinkedIn location to AbuDhabi, I was pleasantly surprised by the expression of support from my existing network. Friends, acquaintances, and former colleagues reached out, offering to meet up or connect over calls. Some of these were long-lost connections, while others were individuals I hadn't directly worked with but shared mutual connections or organizations. One particular conversation stands out in my mind. Just yesterday, I was on a call that started as a simple introduction but quickly evolved into something more. To my surprise, the person on the other end of the line revealed that we had both worked at HCL | EXL and Barclays, although at different times, and had never crossed paths during our tenure there. What began as a professional discussion soon turned into a 40-minute conversation filled with laughter and shared experiences. These moments serve as a reminder of the power of connection and the value of a strong network, especially in a new city. Today, six years ago, on 10 July 2018, I arrived in Australia. 🦘🌏 After four years of working at Accenture Austria, I took up the offer to move to Australia. I wanted to live and work in another country for years, and couldn’t let this opportunity slip away, so I moved to Sydney. After packing up my life in Vienna, I was so excited - and fearful at the same time. What would it be like in a country far from home where I practically didn’t know anyone? Well, my approach back then as is now was to ask myself: "How much do I need to be afraid?" Surely, I thought I, was travelling to clients in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the USA, Colombia and Singapore. So, it’s same same just different, living in another country. I had ‘practised’ myself into it. And Accenture gave me every support for relocating. So, all good - or, paaaaaaaasst, as we say in good old Austria. 😉 Then, I thought English is my daily working language, so that won’t be a problem either. I just need to get used to the Australian dialect and I’ll be fine. At my farewell party my best friend called me “category fearless”, and with confidence being one of my main strengths and adventurous a main characteristic, I thought, I got this. I arrived in Australia and flew straight up to Cairns to drive and travel from Far North Queensland to Sydney. The picture below is a selfie sitting at the pool on my first day in Palm Cove, QLD. After six amazing weeks, I started work and reality slapped me in the face. I came self-assured from working in various consulting roles to starting what felt like from scratch in a new country. What was supposed to be my greatest adventure had turned out to be a real test. I thought, ‘It can’t be, that it’s all that hard’. But it was. The pressures of settling in got to me. On a Thursday evening in February 2019, I found myself crying on my partner's couch because I couldn't understand my own clients. During a project meeting in Melbourne that day, my client had said, "Your solution seems pretty vanilla...". I listened, nodded ..... and had no idea what that phrase meant. From then on, I learned to cut myself some slack. Big changes need time to adapt to and relocating to a new country is a big change. This experience has taught me that no matter if moving countries, getting promoted, starting your own business or stepping up into a new role, it’s ok - and sometimes necessary - to sit crying on the couch. And then eventually it all comes together, and we’ve got this.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to my former colleagues and mentors for the incredible growth, opportunities, and memories that I experienced. It's very surreal, as this is/was my first full-time job and my first time being let go. During my tenure, I had the privilege of wearing multiple hats and taking on increasingly challenging roles. From day one as a Customer Service Representative to my final role as a Service Delivery Manager, I embraced every opportunity to learn and grow. The journey included 5 well-deserved promotions, which I attribute to the unwavering support of my mentors and the relentless dedication of my teams. I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by amazing people every step of the way. Now, I must admit, I've frequently battled with impostor syndrome. But one thing I've learned is that if you can't trust opinions about yourself, you have to trust the opinions of the people around you. Living on that edge of discomfort is a sign that we're pushing our boundaries and striving for excellence. So, if you're feeling a bit like an impostor too, remember, it's just a sign that you're on the path to greatness.
