Month of the Military Child is a time to reflect but also to launch solutions. Month of the Military Child honors the resilience and sacrifices of the more than 1.6 million military children in our country. This month is also an opportunity to reflect on the unique challenges faced by children during their parents’ military to civilian transition. Moving off a military installation or across country, means children enroll in new schools, must make new friends while building a new support system, and in some cases lose valuable resources available to active-duty parents. Our solution: We are calling on our community to help us raise $250,000 to expand our Childcare Assistance programs that benefit both veteran and child. By providing support for post-military childcare, addressing financial insecurity, and delivering resources that help children also adjust during the transition to civilian life, we ensure military-connected children thrive. Most efforts are focused on supporting the military, community development, social protection, healthcare and education. In most cases, the initiative comes from business owners or managers, and they are often the ones who handle the functions related to the implementation of such projects.
