Bike to the Beach for Autism July 28th I hope you are having a good summer. Thank you very much for your indulgence with my communications regarding next week’s Bike to the Beach’s Bike for Autism ride. This will be my last pre-ride post.   Here are some quick updates and numbers:   1.      113.04 – That’s how many miles many of us are riding (did I mention July heat!) to Dewey Beach on 7/28 (shorter routes of 25, 50, and 70 mile are available too) 2.      23 – The number of riders we have so far on Team Ballard and Team Cassell (It’s not too late to sign-up!) 3.      495 – The number of total riders registered to ride to date 4.      118 – The number of beers consumed on during the recent Bike to the Breweries training ride (hydration is important and beer is mostly water!) 5.      $50,000 – Our ride goal for The Jake Cassell Fund for Special Needs (see details below about the amazing charities this Fund is supporting) 6.      Countless thanks to those getting this email who are supporting Team Ballard by riding and making generous donations   PLEASE do not feel any obligation to contribute. We know there are many deserving charities you may already support throughout the year. But if you chose to do so, we will strive to continue doing some amazing things (like those below) with the money you donate.   If you would like to make a donation, please use this link: https://lnkd.in/ey4hHz5v   If you would like to ride with Team Ballard, use promo code "TeamBallardSpahr10” for a registration fee discount.

"Volunteering on a local nonprofit board has changed my perspective on some things I used to say with ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY, and with a microphone. As an example: 'The federated model is inefficient. All organizations are on the path to single corp, without exception.' Here’s where the federated model works brilliantly. Because the national organization is protected by a separate 501c3, they don’t mess with us. We do all sorts of things that I know, for sure, would be shot down by a rigid structure. Example: we run a thrift store. When I first heard about this, my single-corporation heart fell. I thought, 'Oh no, so much energy to make so little money with no mission connection.' NAMIWalks is Less Than Two Weeks Away! Make Sure You Are Registered!   We are less than two weeks away from NAMIWalks on October 14th and this is your reminder that in order to participate, you MUST be registered. This includes kids, friends, co-workers, family, etc. Anyone who is coming to the event is required to register.    But don't worry! It's simple, free, and easy to register. You can register ahead of time on the website listed below as an individual participant, team member, or team captain. Registration is FREE. It will ask you to set up a fundraising goal and fundraising is encouraged, but not required.
