Just finished Ezra Klein's interview with Dario Amodei, co-founder and CEO of Anthropic, the company that created Claude. I keep being struck by how the leaders of top #AI companies are all raising the alarms on how quickly AI models are advancing and how underprepared we are as an international community to manage the impact, risks, and opportunities. Advanced AI models create new problems that we have never before faced, or even contemplated. AI also offers a means to try to combat or regulate these very challenges. This cyclical dynamic creates a very uncertain future. In #healthcare, we are used to cycles of change that feel fast from inside them but which are really quite slow. It's difficult for us to imagine that the capabilities of technology, business, the practice of medicine, and the administration of healthcare's complexities could be very different three years from now. Yet, virtually all leaders in AI are suggesting that such change likely in the near term. We need not wait for incumbent solutions to adopt such possibilities for them to reach consumers and providers. I have heard many healthcare leaders dismiss such claims as 'crying wolf,' citing past hype cycles of change in healthcare that never came to pass. But this is the very definition of disruptive change; we often fail to see it until it is upon us. Within the next several years, humans will be interacting with AI in virtually all aspects of our lives. AI models have been trained to address diagnostics, care delivery, documentation, and administration of healthcare, and their sophistication in these areas is evolving rapidly. Why would we assume all of this tech would stop at the doors of one of the biggest sectors of our economy? We are having this conversation with executive teams and boards around in the industry - interested in sharing thoughts! #AIhealthcare #disruption #innovation https://lnkd.in/eZm5nK6s

We've trained a machine to create and distribute your basic income on digital devices. Conversational AI trained to generate the mythical universal basic income, now Digital Basic Income (DBI). For a fairer society, rebuilt from scratch. Because real revolutions are made from below. DBI by Eloisa Technologies means the first income opportunity for every individual without any distinction. It's a bottom-up strategy: 100% of the work is done by the users themselves and not by a government organization, charity or whatever. Your basic income on digital devices is the result of an intelligent movement of existing capital: a unified algorithm allows the generation of shareable sums of money in real time. DBI works at the city level and potentially on a global scale. It operates in the same way in every kind of human and hypothetically non-human society, present or future. eloisa.it

What would a scattered random universe theory have to do with Deep learning and large scale learning models (LLMs) aka your Chat GPTs and Gemini's. Probably everything. We recognize Ludwig Boltzmann from his entropy work in thermodynamics (order vs disorder). But his work has been translated into many other fields including Deep learning where Boltzmann machines helped a lot in structuring the disorder of a system to come to a ordered interpretation. So every-time you have unstructured data (photos, PDFs, audio, videos) and you are trying to make decisions on a couple of input factors and a SLM or a early stage LLM is doing that for you, most probably it is using a Boltzmann machine algorithm #ai #genai #innovation #futurism

An insightful conversation! If you want to hear from the man of AI, firsthand check out this episode. I listened this morning and learned so much. Here is a term, AGI, that was new to me and the top nuggets I pulled out from the episode (yes, I used ChatGPT to formalize these tips from the transcript 😉) AGI Definition Challenge: The definition of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is challenging, and opinions vary. Some see it as a system replicating human capabilities, while others emphasize its role in scientific discovery. Fuzziness of AGI Term: The term AGI has become fuzzy and is often perceived as simply "really smart AI." The evolving nature of AI makes precise definitions difficult. Closer to AGI: The speaker believes that we are getting closer to achieving AGI, but there's uncertainty about its immediate impact. The term might not capture the nuances of evolving AI capabilities. Short-Term Impact: Anticipate that AGI's impact on society in the short term may be less drastic than people imagine. Societal inertia, economic structures, and human habits may temper the immediate changes. Inertia in Society: Society and the economy exhibit inertia, which is seen as a healthy buffer to manage the transition into a world influenced by advanced AI. This inertia provides stability during technological shifts. GPT-4 Example: The launch of GPT-4 had a significant initial impact, causing a momentary freak-out. However, life continued, and people adapted to the technology, highlighting the resilience and adaptability of society. Technological Resilience: The speaker appreciates the resilience of humans and society in adapting to new technologies. Acknowledges the fantastic ability of individuals and society as a whole to absorb and integrate advancements seamlessly. #TheFutureIsAI #SamAltman #AGI

If you'd like to learn more about AI in an entertaining way, I suggest you listen to the interview of Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, by Trevor Noah. Here are my takeaways: 👉 Mission: to get the benefits of AGI broadly available and to manage it safely 👉 Team support: comes from the mission that people really believe in, the team has a shared loyalty to the mission 👉 Team ability: must operate well in chaos, crisis, uncertainty, stress => build a team culture 👉 AGI: Artificial General Intelligence will happen. Smart AI can do a fraction of what humans can do, AGI will make new scientific discoveries, AGI will change the world slowly due to inertia. 👉 Future GPT: personal GPT, knows you and your personal data, answers things the way you want, works in your context => your avatar 👉 Hallucinations: we can achieve an AI that hallucinates only when we want it to, experimenting and coming up with new hypotheses is a feature for the creative process, not a bug 👉 Training: how to learn what data is good or bad, what about human oversight and bias, will models learn from AI-generated data? 👉 Ethics: how to teach an AI to surpass human data and bias, without human flaws? how to democratize the governance about AI, what it can say or do? 👉 Safety: society decides that something is acceptably safe given risk-benefits trade-offs, what are the catastrophic or existential risks? Is AI like nuclear power? 👉 Humanoids: progress was easier and faster with bits than atoms, AI will help make better robots 👉 Reactions to innovation: people freak out when GPT was first launched. 👉 Being laughed at: we knew it would work but people were laughing at us 👉 Build in secret: AGI is released step by step, not at once from a lab, in secret. 👉 Capitalism: has flaws but is the better system, money should be the enabler, not the goal 👉 Dream: what is your dream? What now? Are AI and energy the source of abundance for humanity? Better studies, better healthcare, more productive at work? 👉 Universal basic income: eliminating poverty, better redistribution of money, thrive on individual basis and as a species 👉 Tech revolutions: a lot happened in the last generation, it keeps moving faster #artificialintelligence #digitaltransformation #dream https://lnkd.in/dBMyZ9mt
