Throughout #WorldAMRWeek, we have highlighted important work being done by the partners of USAID's Medicines, Technologies, and Pharmaceutical Services (MTaPS) Program. Today we urge regional experts, ministry of health authorities, and other stakeholders to adopt customized and standardized antimicrobial use (AMU) surveillance to ensure that #AntimicrobialResistance prevention work is data driven, sustainable, and designed for unique health system challenges. #AMU surveillance systems provides critical evidence on which antimicrobial stewardship interventions are based, but many low- and middle-income countries lack efficient monitoring system. Investing in AMU surveillance is key to addressing the #AMR global health crisis head-on and improving the lives of patients everywhere. At the beginning of the 2000s, I faced a difficulty searching the WHO TRSs because of the huge number of TRSs and related annexes. The only solution was to make an index that combine all TRSs with the relevant annexes... I made it and used to update it with any new version. So in case I need to find out the guideline that is handling a specific topic (Water system for example) I just open up this index -- >click (Ctrl+f) --> type Water in the search box--> click enter, and easily get all guidelines that handled the Water systems. Later on, the World Health Organization has issued something similar to my index under the name of "List of norms and standers for Pharmaceutical guidelines, TRS "... an adapted version of that list was issued by EDA on Sept. 2023. Only those who are interested in WHO Phrmaceutical guidelines will find this index very helpful and time saving tool for them... enjoooy. Feel free to share with your network.
