The European project LEVEL-UP is coming to an end. On 27 September we will participate in the final conference of the project that will take place in Brussels. LEVEL-UP is a R&D project funded by the European Commission (FOF-6-2019 - EU H2020) whose objective is to develop protocols and strategies for extending the useful life of major capital investments and large industrial equipment. The aim is to offer a scalable platform covering the overall lifecycle, ranging from the digital twins setup, modernisation actions to diagnose and predict the operation of physical assets, to the refurbishment and remanufacturing activities towards end of life. In this final conference of the project participants will present the relevant solutions and their applications developed during the four years of the project, which ends on 30 September. Our colleagues in the R&D team of Fagor Arrasate S. Coop. will be explaining how the solutions developed in the project have influenced the use case of Estampaciones Mayo (ESMA). Estampaciones Mayo (ESMA) is in the business of making components for major automotive sector firms and original equipment manufacturers using means of cold deformation (stamping), welding and complementary assemblies of components. They have 2 FAGOR transfer presses of 630 tn. The outcome of the project is that by linking performance with condition monitoring data, the performance increases by 16% against different inspected states. The predictive and preventive operations support short-term fixes to operate longer reducing the downtimes for spare-parts by 22%. The virtual refurbishment tool, along with the Component Assessment and the generated CAPP, have helped to identify the best repair type and the redesign of remanufactured components 30% faster than the current status quo. CBA and ROI analytics bind with machine operations and remedial actions have supported ESMA to reduce the operating costs and resources by 10%.
