Scientists quickly assess these predictions in the lab and the results are fed back into the models to improve the underlying computational model, allowing for iterative development of better therapies.    Activities will leverage publicly available and Genentech-proprietary data. By participating in this consortium, UCB will enhance digital molecular design using the power of deep learning while contributing to the advancement of open-source research for the scientific community. Utilizing digital design at the molecular level, has already enabled the discovery of some of our biologics-based treatments at UCB. In brief, I expect 2024 to be a stellar year for generative AI, and we should expect major progress on the technology side of AI-powered drug discovery. Around 2015, Jensen decided to make a bet on healthcare, originally educating pharma on the potential of deep learning to sell hardware. From 2020-2023, that team evolved from a set of tools into a broad and established platform deeply rooted into the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry led by the high-power young and ambitious executive, Kimberly Powell. While the level of validation of this platform is still far from the level desired by the average medicinal or computational chemist or expert pathway-focused biologist, with more partnerships such as the one they formed with Genentech, the platform is likely to become more sophisticated.
