#Appreciate_the_company_by_living_and_breathing_by_the_company_policies_and_Core_values #Make_it_part_of_your_DNA Got no referals, randomly dropped my CV and papers at the front desk to a counter assistant that I did not know who casually passed "it" on to HR, and knew no one in SMT role in the company but recruited onboard the company in a fair way by a unknown HR at that time considering how things are mostly done in the public sector due to "Wantok system" and "Who you know system"? Yep. That's how I came on board Digicel and I believe there are other good companies in the private sector that are "clean" when it comes to recruitment because of the slightly or mighty company policies and core values that are up-hold by the company.

🌟 I'm embarrassed to tell you how many federal jobs I've unsuccessfully applied for in the four years we've been OCONUS in Germany. In 2021, I attended a hiring fair on-base and left with a job offer at the Subway. 😳 [Disclaimer: I have nothing against the Subway... but it's definitely not what I had in mind as a military spouse with 9 years of federal (legislative) employment experience.] ✍ So when I was invited by Sue Luangkhot Hoppin (National Military Spouse Network) to attend the White House signing of a Memorandum of Agreement to improve the Domestic Employees Teleworking Overseas (DETO) Program - a program that offers federally employed spouses (typically military affiliated) to retain their federal employment remotely while assigned overseas - it wasn't just great timing, it was deeply personal and unexpectedly emotional. 👏 To the military spouses who made this possible - Julie Heumphreus, Wendy Rejan, Margaret Rose (Boehly) Benavente, Emmalee Gruesen, Maria Donnelly and countless others - Thank you. I'd be lying if I said there aren't days when I question if any of the late nights and hours-long zooms and phone calls make any difference. And then I'm reminded that this is the work. There are no shortcuts and there's no cutting corners.
