According to a recent study, hybrid vehicles have less powertrain issues than their traditional counterparts. Are Hybrids More Reliable Than ICE Vehicles?: The popularity of electric vehicles (EVs) is on the rise, yet they face challenges regarding reliability. Consumer Reports' 2023 Annual Auto Reliability Survey reveals that, on average, new EVs present 79 percent more problems than internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. The once-niche hybrid is now the hottest car on the lot thanks to reservations about the reliability and accessibility of #electricvehicles. Though many automakers produced fully #electriccars, brands have been methodically expanding their hybrid offerings as #hybridvehicles offer the best of both worlds. While drivers of both electric and hybrid vehicles were more satisfied than customers who own or lease gas-powered cars, the #ACSI found in our 2022-2023 Automobile Study that #EVs rank last for dependability and customer expectations for reliability, and they have the highest complaint rate. Meanwhile, hybrid owners are happier with more aspects of the driver experience than EV owners, including quality, value, and dependability. The world of EVs and PHEVs is still a young one, and we saw real evidence of that today. A comprehensive study from Consumer Reports found that PHEVs and EVs had a significantly higher incidence of issues than ICE or Hybrid vehicles did. While EVs were 146% less reliable than ICE vehicles and PHEVs 79% worse, hybrid vehicles took the prize for most reliable vehicles. A hybrid vehicle had 26% less issues than an ICE, not a result I expected. EV trucks were the worst offenders, followed by SUVs and then cars. The reality is this segment is still so new there's a lot of teething problems. But, if you can deal with the teaching problems, an EV or PHEV is still worth the buy. https://lnkd.in/gPSG3umw #electricvehicles #evs

Newly released research from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) https://lnkd.in/gcNgzSUC) underscores the current challenge for EV sales vs hybrids: "We estimate that most OEMs currently lose around $6,000 on each EV..." "By our analysis, hybrids will account for 15% to 20% of new car sales when the next generation of EVs are on the market. Hybrid demand will be particularly strong in certain segments, such as mass-market and premium sedans, coupes, and crossovers."
