Recent developments in #Kuwait reflect institutional structural challenges that may hinder economic reforms and development. Institutions and governance are critical to ensure well functioning economy. Disruptions by or two these institutions is a worrying sign. A long history of antagonism between the National Assembly and Government has held back the country from achieving its greater potential. Could the dissolution of the assembly ( not the first in recent history - 2016 was the most recent of ten) usher a new more dynamic constitution that offers the country a smoother path to the future? The next four years (time-frame set by the Emiri Decree) will tell. Much like its neighbors Kuwait urgently needs reforms for economic and social stability, not withstanding its natural resources wealth. 🇰🇼

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman's anticipated visit to Pakistan is currently under discussion between officials in Riyadh and Islamabad, according to government sources. Reports suggesting a delay in the high-profile visit have prompted clarifications from officials, indicating that the final date for MBS's visit is yet to be decided. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is actively engaging with Saudi authorities in this matter. Earlier indications pointed to MBS's arrival in Islamabad on May 19 for a two-day visit, but no official schedule has been confirmed. Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zehra Baloch expressed confidence that details of the visit would be made public once a schedule is finalized between both countries.
