Happy Independence Day!
The longstanding tradition of fireworks and flag-waving on the 4th of July resonates differently for Black communities. While many celebrate America's freedom, for us, July 4th highlights ongoing struggles for true equity and justice.
Today, we acknowledge our ancestors' relentless pursuit of freedom and civil rights. We invite you to reflect on how their courage and determination enable us to access the resources and knowledge needed to excel, break down racial barriers, and live out their wildest dreams.
In the spirit of unity and progress, NABA Inc. remains committed to empowering Black Business Leaders at every stage in their journey. Learn more about our initiatives at nabainc.org as we strive for a future of true freedom and opportunity for all.

The purpose of the "Winning with Purpose" Series is to reclaim and redefine the Black narrative, challenging harmful stereotypes perpetuated by entertainment, social media, and other forms of media. Currently, many inner-city youth and communities believe that pathways to wealth are limited to entertainment, athletics, or illicit activities, with violence being glorified and a lack of values, respect, and education. "Winning with Purpose" will counter these damaging perceptions by showcasing amazing Black Leaders who personify TRUE Black Excellence.
As #blackhistorymonth2024 comes to a close, ACS will continue to make every month an opportunity to embrace and honor Black history and culture. Here are some ways you can make a positive impact year-round:

We’re committed to making an open and honest account of our past a part of the story we tell at Lloyd’s.
Today, the findings of our research collaboration with Black Beyond Data –
based at Johns Hopkins University and funded by the Mellon Foundation – have been published.
The research makes clear the significant role Lloyd’s played in enabling the transatlantic slave trade: both the people trafficked, and the goods they produced.
We’re deeply sorry for this period of our history and the harm caused to people and communities around the world.
In response, we’ve launched Inclusive Futures – a market-wide programme of initiatives to help Black and ethnically diverse individuals progress from the classroom to the boardroom.
We know we can’t undo or fully atone for the past – but we can create a more inclusive and equitable future for those affected by the legacy of slavery today.

For a very long time I’ve known that Black Excellence is a scam!
There is no amount of excellence that will shield you from the racism, prejudice or biases that exist in this world. We have seen this countless of times in the media from Serena Williams being compared to Maria Sharapova, to Beyoncé not even ‘coming close’ to Taylor Swift or the embarrassing reality that our Black actors are underpaid and treated with no regard.
It’s 2024 and there has already been absolutely mayhem (off the back of the 2023 unacceptable scandals of P Diddy and Jonathan Majors). We have seen the ‘anti-woke’ brigade forcefully vilify Black leaders because many times they have to prove their competence. Sadly, if a Black person is hired into a senior position it is seen as a ‘DEI’ hire and not based on meritocracy even though we know you have to be exceptional to even be considered.
All I’m saying is stop aspiring for excellence.
⭐️Aspire to always have integrity
⭐️Aspire for sincerity
⭐️Aspire to keep your word
⭐️Aspire to try your best with accountability and honesty at the centre
Last year @bypnetwork went above and beyond from hosting over 70 up-skilling events, Hosting summits in New York, Chicago, Atlanta and Texas, growing chapters in 25+ cities, launching a new technology platform ‘Javelin’, collaborating with over 100 companies and impacting over 48,000 Black professionals. Despite the constant negative news, there is good out there. There are people and companies trying to change the Black narrative. However, the fight is huge and everyone must play their part!
How? Be professional, hold yourself to a high regard, do the points above and most importantly protect your mental health. No workplace, no business, no person is worth your peace. If you’re the type of person willing to sell your soul for success at the cost of morality - then it doesn’t get any lower than that.
Happy New Year everyone - let’s make it count!

As more insights regarding the State of Black America become available to the public, new focus can be shifted towards crafting solutions based on research and analysis.
Recent findings highlight a concerning trend of sluggish growth in Black-owned businesses.
It’s important not to overlook these enterprises, which also belong to the small business sector, in policy-making discussions.
For policymakers and advocates of change, here are six actionable steps to consider.
Remember supporting Black entrepreneurship and innovation, not only benefits underinvested communities/groups but also ALL members of society.

It's been an incredible journey through #BlackHistoryMonth 2024🖤✊🏿. As we wrap up this series of daily posts, let’s remember that Black History is NOT a separate entity from American History; rather, it is an integral and inseparable part of the nation's narrative.
The contributions, struggles, and achievements of Black people have played a significant role in shaping the nation's identity AND… progress. Acknowledging Black History every day of the year is essential because it recognizes the ongoing impact of Black Americans on all aspects of society, including culture, business, politics, science, and the arts.
Embracing this perspective fosters a more inclusive and accurate understanding of the nation's past, present, and future. By incorporating Black history into the broader narrative, we promote unity, diversity, and a collective appreciation for the resilience and triumphs of the Black community.
Let’s continue to commemorate the stories, achievements, and legacies of remarkable individuals who have shaped our world. #BlackHistoryMonth#BlackHistory365#CelebrateExcellence To view the daily posts visit IG @showupllc.
As we come to the last day of February, our Black voices on the Block continue to truth and life into our organization + the communities we love.
Meet someone who understands the human being vs. just the human doing, Devon Fanfair. Hear what Black History means to Devon and more below!
"Black History means everything to me! It means Global History. It means the history of which the world was built and evolved. It means innovation and creativity in its purest form. It also means black futurism. When we look back on all we have done to help us remove the imposter syndrome, we should leverage that to create what we have yet to see and experience."
"This is SO MUCH MORE than a group of brilliant black founders winning in this tech game! When Tradeblock/we win our “championship”, there will hopefully be photos of the entire team in both digital and physical print. The goal behind the goal is to have kids and adults see themselves in a way they hadn’t before. Sometimes all we need is to see someone that looks like us on a stage we haven’t been to realize that for ourselves. Tradeblock is black futurism." 🚀
Resilience, the ability to bounce back from adversity, challenges and setbacks is not about avoidance. It's about courage and adaptability. It's about walking through our fears and finding our voices. In the uncertainties that surround us, resilience becomes our superpower. It shapes our mental and emotional wellbeing. To celebrate Black History Month and a few of our pioneers, checkout the list below and strengthen your superpower. 💪

Black History Month should not be the only time that we learn and think about the contributions and experiences of Black Americans.
Black people have contributed to every aspect of American society, culture, and politics, so telling our histories is about more than recognition — it’s about honoring our humanity and respecting our right to call America home. Learning about Black history provides a fuller, culturally inclusive perspective of America.
Black history is for everyone, every day of the year.
So this year, extend your celebration beyond February with learning and recognition of Black history throughout the year.
