Market N Color Celebrating Progress and Embracing Authenticity I want to spotlight an initiative that is critical to our collective journey toward equality: the CROWN Act. This pioneering legislation, which stands for "Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair," is a powerful step forward in the fight against hair discrimination. Individuals, particularly Black women have faced bias and barriers simply because of their natural hair. The CROWN Act seeks to end this form of discrimination by ensuring that hairstyles historically associated with race are protected in workplaces and schools. By supporting the CROWN Act, we are not only advocating for a more inclusive and respectful society, but we are also celebrating the rich diversity and individuality that make us who we are. Every curl, coil, and kink tell a story of culture, heritage, and identity. It is time we honored and protect these stories. Let us use our voices and platforms to amplify this crucial message. While it is normal for hair colour to change as people age, when grey hair appears early, it triggers a multitude of questions. Today, we witness an increase in premature hair greying. In this article, we explore what's behind the rising early greying.

Currently, it is legal to discriminate against a person in the workplace, schools, and/or pools because of their natural or protective hairstyle in all states except for California, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Colorado, Washington, Maryland, Connecticut, Delaware, New Mexico, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, Illinois, Maine, Tennessee, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Alaska, Michigan, Texas, Minnesota, Arkansas, and Vermont. Hair discrimination remains a source of racial injustice with serious economic consequences for Black people. The CROWN Act corrects these racial injustice by making race-based hair discrimination illegal. The CROWN Coalition (Dove, National Urban League, Color Of Change, and Western Center on Law & Poverty) believes natural and protective hairstyles should be celebrated, not discouraged. For this reason, they are committed to Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural hair. National CROWN Day is a special holiday commemorating the inaugural signing of the first CROWN Act legislation in California on July 3, 2019, to “Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair.” Through every twist, curl, and coil, we discover the beauty of acceptance and the importance of self-appreciation. CROWN Love isn't just about hairstyles; it's a journey of self-discovery, self-care, and self-love.
