At Grin Events, we believe that strong teams are built not only in the boardroom but also under the open sky. Our recent outdoor Leisure Games event was a testament to this philosophy. Picture this: a sunny day, a lush green field, and 60 enthusiastic participants ready to engage in friendly competition. The day was designed to strengthen teamwork and boost morale and featured classic Leisure Games such as Cornhole, Bocce Ball, Ladder Ball, and Bucket Ball. Laughter echoed as bags sailed through the air, some landing with precision, while others took unexpected detours. The tension built as teams strategized during Bocce Ball—should they knock opponents’ balls away or aim for a delicate touch? As the day unfolded, we witnessed magic happening as alliances formed and players cheered each other on. Colleagues became teammates and teammates became friends. Conversations flowed freely, barriers dissolved, and trust grew. The competitive banter during games transformed into genuine connections during breaks. We know that team building isn’t just about trust falls and icebreakers. In fact, we think this is the old way of doing things. And to spark that competitive spirit even further, we recently organized an Intra-team competition for the marketing team where we divided the team into 4-5 further teams. The brief: If WanderOn were to collaborate with "xyz" company/brand what would be the pitch? Each team was allocated a different brand. The results were phenomenal. That's what happens when you put passionate people in a healthy and fun environment and ask them to create something. The video below is the result of that. WanderOn is now open for cross-branding and brand collaborations, and we've been in talks with some of the biggest and coolest brands. That's what happens when you make your entire team a part of your goals. They feel inclusive and motivated to bring out their best. It’s our birthday!!! 6 year’s ago I’d had enough. I was fed up and demotivated in my work. I decided it was time to make a change. So I quit my unfulfilling job to take a leap of faith setting up my own business, paving my own way into the events industry. What a journey it has been. The fear of starting up. The excitement of winning the very first client. The nerves of taking on the first employee. And the dread of when the crippling pandemic hit. My initial reservations were ringing true - starting a business from nothing certainly isn't a walk in the park.... Aside from the health tragedy of Covid, the pandemic impacted many businesses. The events industry took a real kicking! As the pandemic drew on, it was easy to fear the worst – were we doomed? But with the thanks to a determined team, and a great build partner, we managed to keep our entire team whilst we became a major part of helping the country open back up. Our design and manufacture offering pivoted to supplying tens of thousands of free-standing hand-sanitiser units throughout the UK. An instant lead-time ensured we could support the huge demand whilst the country struggled to import products from China. Further diversification saw the birth of an entire new brand. We embarked in the design and build of Garden Rooms – which were experiencing growing demand as a solution for home workers. Despite being a somewhat saturated market, The Garden Room Group is standing up against competition. It's now accounts for 25% of our business, and delivering 100+ Garden Rooms per year. We now have an inspiring team of 20 colleagues, delivering some incredible design and build projects. Our new senior leadership team have diversified our offerings and we execute incredible experiential projects from Shoreditch to Singapore! We are no longer just an ‘exhibition company’. We’re an all-encompassing partner, bringing brand stories to life in the physical space. I never dreamt 6 years ago that any of this would be possible. It’s all thanks to working with amazing colleagues, having supportive friends & family, and working with incredible build partners! It’s a journey that is still in its infancy, and I’m exhilarated to see what the next 6 years will bring!
