Hear Jay Jenkins from Akamai Technologies explain what #AI at the edge means "What we're offering is single-digit millisecond latency endpoints for people to run AI.  And they don't necessarily have to overload devices, they can actually offload devices and push that back onto the cloud or move some of these workloads from these core computing regions to the edge to run more efficiently with lower latency. So if you're struggling over 10 to 20 milliseconds in your model, you can gain 40 to 100 milliseconds simply by moving that to the edge, and that's extremely important and extremely valuable. AI at the edge is about what the Linux Foundation would refer to as Access Edge, which is the edge at the telco. Now there are other edges as well, right? Edges premise. Even your device right, is considered an edge endpoint. But where we're really focused is access edge. And that is simply because, over the past 25 years, that's what Akamai's been building. we've been building a global network and we have over 4,100 points of presence. Google Cloud NEXT ‘24 is in the books and what an event it was. HCLTech Ecosystems HCLTech HCLTech – Cloud was there in force, literally, as we showcased our #aiforce offering (https://lnkd.in/e947RHVs ) while also having deep discussions at the HCLTech Cloud Pavillion with customer/clients from around the globe. Met many new people who were drawn to the energy that the HCLTech team was able to bring throughout the event. Some quick technical highlights were enhanced Gemini 1.5 Pro LLM (of which I am a user of) with audio understanding capabilities, JSON support. The chip wars are also coming to the forefront with the release of TPU v5p in a week that saw Intel and AMD as well as all cloud providers release new and advanced chips not only to support massive AI workloads but to provide confidential computing, performance and scale. I had many unique and evolving meetings around what we are now seeing as #shadowai how to quickly adjust to control and what measures need to be taken to ensure quick remediation of possible Shadow AI sprawl in the enterprises. HCLTech’s unique approach to providing a comprehensive Production Ready GenAI services model and approach was highlighted in many conversations and in fact had many customers/clients reaching that “ah ha moment of admitting that they are no where near building such a comprehensive, compliant and thoughtful approach to deploying GenAI into production. From testing, security, training, governance, operations, cost management and what roles need to be in place in order to achieve GenAI production success. The demand for SAIF were a big part of many of my conversations. Another big topic was how to select the right LLM for specific business AI models that our clients are embarking on to the ongoing culture shift in MLOps/ModelOps and finally where to begin is with data! LLM Mesh has now taken shape as enterprises are now being forced to radically think about their current data strategies.
