I would like to clarify my below post about the legality of using Netflix via Starlink, as some important nuances may have been lost in the short format: Is it legal to stream Netflix via Starlink? Yes, absolutely legal and works great. Is it legal to use your private Netflix account in a public space, such as a workplace? No. A Netflix account is private and intended for your private use (within your household). Viewing on a personal device in a private crew cabin would be legal, but on a big screen in a recreation room would not. In addition to the above there are practical issues surrounding the use, which should be considered: Netflix has since March started to crack down on illegal account sharing (so far in a handful of countries). One of the ways they do that is to log your home IP address. If they register you logging in to Netflix from another IP address they may require verification through email. They may also require you to log in from your home IP once per month. Your Netflix content library is depending on your location, which, when using satellite internet, depends on your earth station internet egress point. Last, and most importantly, streaming consumes significant volumes of data. Between 0,3 and 7 GB/hour depending on resolution. On a typical commercial vessel with a crew of 25, a 1 TB/month plan should allow each crew member between 1 and 2 GB per day. To manage this for everyone, and for the entire month - without compromising the continuity of the vessels business operation - you need a solid quota and data budget management system.
