Broadliners move more than 91 million pounds of mushrooms a year up from 69 million pounds in 2020. ➡️ Quick-service restaurants (QSRs) represent 27.4% of broadliner mushroom sales, up from 22.0% in 2019. Strong growth in the number of Food to Go occasions this quarter, according to TWC. Behind the numbers is a shift from formal dining to FTG. Convenience and high street FTG both showing strong growth, but the discounters showing a whopping 44% growth in the number of occasions. A sign the discounters are really getting their act together on FTG. Visit an Aldi or Lidl and you now see some very decent sushi and international options and a strong sandwich offer. This demonstrates a real opportunity for indies to up their game, upgrade their FTG offer and drive footfall.
