A new study by Dr. Mary Lou Randour of AWI’s Center for the Study of NIBRS Animal Cruelty Data and Dr. Lynn Addington of American University, published in the Journal of Family Violence, analyzes FBI crime report data to expand on previous research into the powerful link between animal cruelty and intimate partner/family violence. The authors analyzed 278 animal cruelty incidents that occurred in 2020 and were recorded in the FBI’s National Incident-Based Reporting System to explore characteristics of incidents where both animal cruelty and intimate partner violence or family violence occur. 🚨 Urgent Action Needed! 🚨 The NSW Government's review of the Surveillance Devices Act is a pivotal moment for animal rights in our state. Currently, there is no provision for a public interest exemption, which means brave whistleblowers, activists and media risking their safety to expose animal cruelty could face severe penalties. This threatens not only their freedom, but also the transparency and accountability essential for a democratic society. We cannot let this injustice stand unchallenged. By advocating for a public interest exemption, we're demanding that our laws prioritise compassion and justice over corporate interests. It's time to ensure that those who shine a light on the dark realities of animal exploitation are protected, not punished. Join us in standing up for transparency, accountability, and justice for animals. Take action by clicking here- https://lnkd.in/eyJh-MZd Together, we can create a future where compassion triumphs over cruelty. #endanimalexploitation #takeaction #animalcruelty #transparency #protectwhistleblowers #surveillancedevices #animalrights #compassion #justiceforanimals

🗽🇺🇸🦅 Happy #AnimalFreedomDay! Why celebrate freedom for all animals on the 4th of July? Because freedom is an American ideal, and all animals deserve to live safe, happy, and free. Yet billions of animals live some of the most unfree lives imaginable. That is why we not only celebrate the cause for animal freedom, but also commemorate the billions of animals currently trapped in factory farms, animal labs, and other animal-abusing facilities. Please join us in celebrating Animal Freedom Day by: 1. hosting a vegan BBQ 2. protesting 4th of July cruelty 3. refraining from shooting off fireworks All people are born with certain inalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is our duty to ensure that these rights are extended to all animals, because justice for all means justice for animals. Their freedom is our freedom. Now let’s fight for it!
