June 1, exactly on International Children's Day, marks one year since the introduction of the universal HPV vaccination program for teenagers in Poland! Presently, Polish children from their 11th birthday to the day before their 14th birthday can benefit from free protection against cancer and other diseases caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). This is a huge step forward in the implementation of the National Oncology Strategy for 2020-2030. Purpose of the Program? Vaccinate 60% of girls and boys by the end of 2028! Providing access to free vaccinations is a milestone in achieving the goal set by the National Oncology Strategy. However, achieving it depends on broad education, which will help in common understanding of the threats posed by HPV infection and the possibilities of prevention through vaccination. Educational activities to increase social awareness and build the value of vaccinations are carried out by the Ministry of Health, numerous experts and non-governmental organizations. Let's support these activities with all our strength and be their ambassadors. Let's take care of the future of children in Poland! Happy #Children'sDay! #HPV #NationalImmunizationProgram #DzieńDziecka

"In 2023, the global count of unvaccinated and under-vaccinated children rose to 21 million, marking an increase of 2.7 million from the pre-pandemic figures. Despite this overall increase, the WHO African region saw a decrease in unvaccinated children, from 7.3 million in 2022 to 6.7 million in 2023. Additionally, there was progress in HPV vaccine, which is crucial for preventing cervical cancer. Globally, the coverage for at least one dose of the HPV vaccine increased from 20% in 2022 to 27% in 2023. While these developments are positive, they still fall short of the set target, which aims to reduce the number of unvaccinated children to no more than 6.5 million by 2030." #Vaccination #Vaccine #Immunization #ChildDevelopment

March 4th is International #HPVAwarenessDay. As a global leader in infectious diseases and oncology, we remain steadfast in our support of the WHO’s recommendation of introducing HPV vaccinations as a mandatory element of the prevention of certain cancers caused by HPV. 💉 HPV vaccinations*: • protect against several types of cancer and other dangerous diseases caused by HPV (for example: cervical cancer, genital wards), • are available to girls and boys who are also at risk of human papillomavirus infection, • from June 1th 2023 are available for free in Poland as part of National Immunization Program for girls and boys aged 12 and 13. Join me in speaking up for life-saving vaccines I just added my name standing up for life-saving vaccines because for millions of kids, a tiny needle can be the big difference between a life of poverty and one of possibility. Over the past two decades, the world has made remarkable progress in vaccinating children thanks to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. Since its founding in 2000, Gavi has helped prevent over 17.3 million deaths through its support for routine immunization programs in lower-income countries. But the work is not done. Globally, 20.5 million children missed out on life-saving vaccines in 2022. If you agree we must do everything we can to support life-saving vaccines, add your name to join me! As World Immunization Week comes to a close, let us take a moment to appreciate the incredible impact vaccines have had on global health, from preventing widespread illnesses even to eradicating deadly diseases. In Nigeria, where cervical cancer ranks as the second leading cause of female cancer deaths, the importance of HPV vaccination and regular screening cannot be overstated. However, vaccine hesitancy could hinder achieving high vaccination coverage rates. Let us renew our commitment to promoting vaccine acceptance and uptake by creating awareness, and debunking misinformation. This way, we can embrace the protective power of vaccines and work together to achieve the first pillar of our 90–70–90 Global target: 90% of girls fully vaccinated with the HPV vaccine by the age of 15. This will lead us to live a healthier, happier life, free from the threat of vaccine-preventable diseases. #WorldImmunizationWeek #HPVVaccine #CancerPrevention

Today is #HPVAwarenessDay. HPV (human papillomavirus) can be attributed to 2.5% of cancers on continental Europe. 💉Vaccination programmes play an important role in preventing #cervicalcancer and HPV related cancers in men and women. 🇪🇸 Last year the Murcian Health Service (Murcia, Spain) welcomed health authorities from across the EU as part of the Overcoming Obstacles to Vaccination project onsite visit. The visit focused on the exemplary practice ‘School Vaccination Programme in Murcia Region’. ➡️ This practice aims to improve vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) and meningitis targeting children 11 years of age. By bringing vaccination directly into schools, the practice removes barriers for parents struggling with booking systems or health centre opening hours. It provides easy access and clear information on vaccination opportunities. 📈 As a result of the programme HPV coverage with two doses in 2020 and 2021 ranged between 85% and 95%, whereas the vaccination coverage rate achieved in the 1994-born cohort (vaccinated at health centres) was only 62.3%. Join us for the first session of our 2024 Winter Webinar Series: Early Defense Against HPV, Unveiling the Impact of Starting Vaccinations at Age 9 in Wisconsin. This webinar focuses on the evolving landscape of HPV vaccination in Wisconsin, where we've seen a notable increase in vaccinations among boys and girls over time. However, the post-COVID era presents new challenges with vaccine hesitancy, potentially affecting the uptake of essential vaccines like HPV. Our focus will be on evidence that supports initiating HPV vaccination at age 9, a strategy that promises to significantly boost the vaccination rates by age 13. This early intervention is key to maximizing protection against six types of cancer. #HPV #Immunization #Webinar #WebinarSeries #ImmunizeWI #IMWI #Vaccines #HealthyKids #HealthyFamilies #HealthCare
