DCAS electrifying contracts for ride-share and car-share. DCAS today announced the completion of four electric contracts to cover short term vehicle use including ride-share with Revel, car-share with Zipcar, and short-term (daily, weekly, monthly) vehicle rentals with Hertz and Joulez. These contracts join an existing contract with United Rentals and offer a supply of all-electric sedans, SUVs, vans, and pickups as options when we need to do short term rentals. This is the city's first requirement contract for ride-share. DCAS has offered car share through Zipcar since 2012 but now these units can be zero emissions electric options. As we continue to work towards an all-electric City owned fleet, our short-term use of vehicles will also move toward zero emissions. See more at our fleet newsletter. https://lnkd.in/e-8pRD7E

I’m not a fan of #EV mandates, but this is one I’ll support. Where are the #taxis 🚕 in the plan is a major problem for Uber. The most populated cities like London or NYC are only about 7 miles wide, but to go north/south or east/west can take up to an hour in an Uber or Taxi. Public transit is the best method, but there are about 100k taxis and rideshares in both cities. Ubers problematic business plan post-pandemic is a major issue. They treat their drivers like crap and to add insult to injury, they don’t lobby or promote to cities, hotels, airports, and major venues. This is why uber or Lyft are often shoved on the 5th floor of some parking 🅿️ garage and taxis are right out front. This is another example of the app thinking they don’t need to lobby. I promise you the taxis unions will negotiate a better deal. #rideshare #electricvehicles #publictransit
