Fabulous work by the NSCA Foundation educating, engaging and inspiring us at their Melbourne Safety Forum. I took away learnings from each presentation: 🧠 We can expect the new regulations in psychosocial hazards will likely lead to greater fines for organisations and liability for individuals that cause harm to worker mental health – John Moran and Sam Jackson 🧠 Create an environment that sets expectations for appropriate behaviour via consistent signals for the priority of physical, psychological and social safety from the moment someone enters the place of business – Sarah Watt and Tim George 🧠 There is a need for balance between documentation of psychosocial hazard management processes and decluttering the systems so that people can address safety concerns in a practical manner as they arise – Steven Hains 🧠 People are more likely to participate in safe practices at work if they understand ‘Why’ it matters and are provided context specific examples in multiple formats to suit different learning styles eg audio, visual, written and role modelled – Aaron Malcolmson 🧠 Early intervention for worker mental health concerns regardless of the source of stress (internal or external factors), and understanding each individual is unique in their preferences to support recovery will significantly reduce costs associated with sickness absence, productivity loss, costs for injuries and time for return to work – Nancy Abdelnour and Tim Saunders Many thanks to Bernie Doyle and Andrea Young for organising another excellent event!

I’m proud to be exhibiting with the team at National Highways Driving for Better Business at The Health & Safety Event | 30 April - 2 May 2024 at the NEC, Birmingham. Meet the team as we help you understand the need for a driving for work policy and to create a one for your own organisation. The law says all companies must have policies and procedures to minimise risk – and that includes the recognised risks around driving. DfBB is launching a new Driving for Work Policy Builder – so whether you need to create a policy from scratch, or already have a comprehensive policy but would like monthly updates on legal and compliance issues, there will be something that you won’t want to miss. DfBB will send you regular updates on relevant legal and compliance issues so you can update your policy when necessary. You will get an automatic reminder to review your policy in 12 months. Check out #healthandsafety products and solutions. It's the UK's premier event dedicated to improving occupational health and safety standards. https://lnkd.in/e87_SSuD 🦺 #HSE2024 The Health & Safety Event
