As a rule, do you think candidates with CVs that appear "jumpy" should be rejected straight away, or do you think there can be exceptions?
Personally, I think some CVs deserve to be further explored with candidates.
I feel that sometimes there are factors that should be considered, and on those occasions the candidate should be given the opportunity to explain themselves.
We all have companies within our respective networks that are known for lack of professionalism, however candidates do not always have the luxury of knowing, so naturally are vulnerable to working for these types of companies.
A candidate can never absolutely know if they have made the best decision when accepting a job offer, you do your best with the information you have and, one just hopes for the best. However, cracks can start to show after months of being in the role, by which time they may feel obligated to stay because of how it may look on their CV.
I frequently hear of candidates being given false promises, goal posts constantly being moved, working arrangements not being fulfilled, the commission structure is not what was explained at interview stage, or is not being paid at all.
For many candidates this cycle can continue at least 2-3 times due to no fault of their own.
In my opinion, sometimes it is worth further investigating a CV with the candidate, because there could be genuine reasons behind the short durations of employment. I appreciate this can be time consuming for a hiring manager, however by doing so you may find a diamond in the rough, so it can be worth the time spent.
Good candidates can find themselves in predicaments, which gives them no choice but to leave a job after a short period of time.
Hiring isn't always easy, going with the obvious choice isn't always the best choice and can lead to regret later on. However with a bit more investigation and being more open-minded, the unlikeliest choice could be the best decision you ever made!

3moI totally agree! I think it’s important to make sure that if the candidate is not chosen for the next step, that I send them a message letting them know (never ghost them!!) This is their livelihood.. the least I can do is not leave them hanging, respect their time and offer to keep helping them with opportunities as I come across them.
