THIS POST SHOULD NOT BE CONTROVERSIAL. If you are a company that scheduled multiple candidates for interviews on the same day, and a candidate early in the day impresses you tremendously and you know they will be the hire, that is great news! DO NOT CANCEL THE REMAINING INTERVIEWS FOR THAT DAY. #1 not everyone will take your offer, if candidate 1 rejects your offer, and you canceled on the remaining candidates, you are back to square one. #2 it's always good to meet candidates, you never know if there is a position you have for them now, or you can store their information for down the road. #3 MOST IMPORTANTLY, it's rude! Someone changed their schedule, might have taken off from work, drove far away, it is simple human decency to follow through with the interview, the same way you would expect a candidate not to no-show on you! Let's treat each other well and make the hiring process as easy and gentle as possible. #hiring #interviews
I just dealt with this a few weeks ago. I continued with the later interview, perhaps a bit less intense than the first, but I dont think the candidate felt slighted at all. #my2cents
Mordechai Pressburger surprised you have to say this. Is it a thing?
It should never be so difficult. Remember how you felt when you went on interviews.
Thanks for bringing up this topic! When it comes to business/work, we may sometimes forget that our employees, interviewees, and colleagues are more than just their job titles or responsibilities - they are individuals with unique experiences, perspectives, and stories. We should treat them with dignity, respect, and empathy, recognizing their humanity and worth beyond their professional lives. Each of us has a life that extends far beyond our work.
I can't believe anyone would do that or anyone above them would let them do that
Hasn't anyone ever changed their mind? If for nothing else, make sure you're keen on your choice!
💯 Maskim.

2moMordechai Pressburger I agree with point # 1 but I disagree on points 2 and 3 if point 1 is not applicable. If it is applicable then that's a standalone reason to have the rest of the interviews. On point 2- I don't think it's fair to make the candidate come out for an interview believing they have a shot at the job if you actually already have someone. If you inform them that you already decided on someone else, fine, but if not it's misleading and an unfair waste of their time. On point #3 I think the candidate would prefer to not have to come to the interview if they don't have a shot at the job. Interviews are stressful and often time consuming, I think most people would prefer to be informed that that a different candidate has been selected and given a choice whether to come or not. (Again, all this is of reason 1 is not applicable, if is, then obviously these points are not relevant)
