"The most dangerous failure facing the world isn’t big bet philanthropy. It is a failure of ambition"
Big bet philanthropy is one—but not the only—powerful tool for addressing many of the biggest and most stubborn challenges in the world. 🌎
We believe growing the big bet movement, as complement to other types of philanthropy, helps make lasting, transformative change.

The innovation struggle in America is real. Companies are disproportionately investing in talent pipeline development initiatives that don't invest in teaching innovation early enough - like 9yrs old early - like we do at Juice Works 3D Digital Maker Academy here in the City of Harrisonburg, VA - Government
Today, during Great Community Give Day, I urge companies, especially those local to Harrisonburg, like The Hershey Company , Merck , Molson Coors Beverage Company , DAIKEN CORPORATION , and the LEGO Group to start flipping the innovation talent pipeline paradigm by helping us, help you, by donating to our JumpSTART education fund scholarship durimg today's day of giving.
GIVE HERE and start flipping the paradigm: https://lnkd.in/e_nssZrQ
LET'S HELP DEVELOP OUR FUTURE-READY INNOVATORS, TOGETHER!
What do We Mean Business Coalition, ideas42, Kode With Klossy, and Center for Disaster Philanthropy all have in common? The answer is that they all began as fiscally sponsored projects of NEW VENTURE FUND! By providing solid footing to begin their work, NVF helped each of these organizations to become the stable and thriving independent organizations that they are today. The incubation that fiscal sponsorship enables is only part of what makes New Venture Fund special, but we believe it can play a powerful role in responding to the growing and ever-shifting challenges facing the planet.

In 2002, founder of Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard, and Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies, created a non-profit corporation to encourage other businesses to do the same.
1% for the Planet is an alliance of businesses that understand the necessity of protecting the natural environment. They understand that profit and loss are directly linked to its health, and are concerned with the social and environmental impacts of industry.

I love this beautiful reinvention of "the relationship between entrepreneurship and (corporate) philanthropy." Not just because I am a lifelong fan of RDJ (I so am), but also because Happy granted an undisclosed equity stake in its company to NAMI to support enduring human connection. It is exciting to see this "emotional innovation" philanthropy model applied to mental health and wellbeing on such a large scale.

What a novel concept: equity philanthropy! Philanthropy on the cap table and creating value across a community, and not just shareholders.
Love the concept of “giving back with equity” and would love to hear from some seasoned VC voices re this one. What do you think of this model?

On behalf of No Margin, No Mission, I want to extend big congrats to URISE Ventures Inc. on their outstanding business plan FAST PITCH as part of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving's SOCIAL ENTERPRISE ACCELERATOR!
The team from this entrepreneurial nonprofit convened a group of "Mission Impact Investors" (aka donors and funders) with whom they shared highlights of their expansion plans for Omni Print Plus..."A Print Shop With a Purpose” that offers an array of print, copy, and digital services, plus website design, graphic design, and tailored customer solutions to meet a variety of business needs. Importantly, net proceeds from this venture will help support the mission of URISE Ventures Inc. to educate and empower young entrepreneurs.
And, as a surprise, HFPG's President and CEO, Jay Williams, announced The Hartford Foundation would match up to $30,000 toward URISE Venture's growth capital goal of $127,000 -- so don't miss the opportunity to be a MISSION IMPACT INVESTOR!
