After a long and productive week and the weather heating up, nothing hits the spot better than homemade ice cream! The therapists at Moody Neuro Lubbock organized an activity where each patient made their own batch of homemade ice cream. They were given instructions and ingredients to create their sweet treat. This enjoyable activity also targeted various functional skills, including sequencing, attention to detail, reading comprehension, and bilateral upper extremity coordination. A variety of toppings were available to personalize each creation, making it the ultimate cherry on top! 😊 #MoodyLBK #MoodyNeuro #BrainInjuryRehab #BreakthroughsinBrainInjury #TransdisciplinaryTherapy #FunctionalTherapy #IceCream #Homemadeicecream #SweetTreat

Residents and staff at Moody Neuro Space Center came together for a delightful pre-July 4th celebration. Our dietary team prepared a fantastic cookout and, we had a lot of great side dishes and desserts prepared by other staff members. The food was excellent, the games were entertaining for everyone, and patients particularly enjoyed having their faces painted. We were also glad to have TEAgether join us, serving specialty teas from their mobile tea trailer. TEAgether is a great organization created to help employ young adults with disabilities. They are a very hard-working and enthusiastic group and they are always looking for opportunities to promote their delicious beverages! You can reach them at 281-455-2386. We also want to give a big “Thank You!” to our Fun Club and other Moody Neuro staff for organizing such an enjoyable event. Your dedication and commitment to keeping patients active and engaged is truly remarkable. Together, we will continue to provide opportunities to achieve “Breakthroughs in Brain Injury” for those we serve!

A fun fact about Moody Neuro Lubbock is our staff and patients love a nice cup of coffee. Throughout the year, we enjoy outings at The Coffee Bar at Cardinals. Patients are provided with a budget to make their selection and interact with unfamiliar communication partners. While each person enjoys the atmosphere and beverage, they also engage in conversation and cognitive leisure tasks that target skills for attention, reasoning, and mental flexibility. We appreciate the kindness and top-notch customer service from the baristas on each visit. We look forward to our next outing at The Coffee Bar! #MoodyLBK #MoodyNeuro #BrainInjuryRehab #BreakthroughsinBrainInjury #TransdisciplinaryTherapy #FunctionalTherapy #CommunityReentry #CommunityBasedTherapy

At Moody Neuro, we believe in celebrating and honoring a variety of cultures and their histories that shape our community. This Juneteenth, we join the nation in recognizing the significance of June 19th, a day that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, marks the anniversary of General Gordon Granger's announcement in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865, proclaiming freedom for enslaved people in Texas. This announcement came almost two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation, which had been issued during the civil war by President Abraham Lincoln. Texans went on to organize the first of what became the annual celebration of “Jubilee Day” on June 19, 1866. We recognize Juneteenth’s historical significance as a reminder of the struggle for freedom and equality. As we celebrate Juneteenth, we reaffirm our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We recognize that our strength lies in our diversity and that by embracing and honoring each other's culture and history we create a more compassionate and resilient community. Together, we can recognize the past, celebrate the present, and work towards a better future for each other and those we are afforded the honor to heal. #juneteenth #moodyneuro #breakthroughsinbraininjury
